Unfortunately we only have the 2 positions...Off and On. Personally I find bright rear foglamps extremely distracting unless the weather absolutely demands it so I have wired mine to be separately switchable.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Wed, 07 Mar 2018 15:01:40 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095450,from=rss#post2095450https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095450,from=rss#post2095450I'm just getting interested in this, but are you saying there's a seperate relay already fitted, just to run a 25w globe for the rear foglight? Would have thought just the one 30A relay (360watts?) would have driven the 2x 55w front and a 25w rear?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wiz Au)Tue, 06 Mar 2018 22:37:42 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095440,from=rss#post2095440https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095440,from=rss#post2095440thanks Kev.nondisclosed_email@example.com (claw hammer)Mon, 05 Mar 2018 13:48:37 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095391,from=rss#post2095391https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095391,from=rss#post2095391The Ti light stalk and front fog relay will give you the standard Ti fog function with the indicator light on the dash too. Our Australian T30 Xtrails were not sold with rear foglamp and as such the foglamp switch does not control the rear foglamp relay. You will have to connect a bridge wire from the front foglamp relay to the rear foglamp relay for it to work. The indicator lamp in the dash is also not connected and has no LED for it, though there is a space. Instructions earlier in this thread will show you what is needed to do all of this.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Tue, 20 Feb 2018 21:31:24 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095390,from=rss#post2095390https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095390,from=rss#post2095390yesterday while disabling keys in beep I installed an ti indicator stalk with fog light switch function, if I now install front and rear fog lights relay and fuse, will this give me a stock foggy set up?nondisclosed_email@example.com (claw hammer)Tue, 20 Feb 2018 08:02:57 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093758,from=rss#post2093758https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093758,from=rss#post2093758Well done Kev, about time you had an RFL fitted LOL nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 15 May 2017 17:22:17 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093757,from=rss#post2093757https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093757,from=rss#post2093757Though there is no rear fog installed we have almost everything we need to install it easily. - there is a relay base in the relay box in the engine bay - there is a space for a dedicated 10A fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay - there is wiring for it in the rear bumper - there is wiring for it in the control stalk - there is wiring for it to the combination dash guages (Black #61 -ve in white connector and White/Purple #20 +12V in side brown connector) - there is an indicator space for it in the combination dash guages (far left between Cruise/Set and 4WD) So what do we need to do to get everything working ? - follow the steps in Method 3 - add a relay to the existing socket - add a 10A fuse to position 36 in the engine bay fuse box - tap into the existing wires (Grey/Blue stripe) and (Blue/Yellow stripe) for the switch That's all you need to have it working. If you would also like to have the indicator lamp in the dash working with it then wire an indicator LED according to the following pictures - take the combination guages out of the dash and unclip top and bottom tabs for the front plastic lens - remove the indicator strip from the front of the guages - undo the screws for the back cover of the combination guages - solder a -ve wire to pin #61 of the side brown connector - solder a +ve wire to pin #20 of the side white connector - connect an LED with resistor for 12V mounted into a hole drilled under indicator position in combination guages - put it all back together in reverse order and you now have the rear fog indicator lit up with the switch And if anyone is interested, here is a pic of my super-bright LEDs mounted in the rear bumper panel (with my impending rear camera). nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Mon, 15 May 2017 16:12:20 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2054574,from=rss#post2054574https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2054574,from=rss#post2054574Nice and bright just as you wanted. looks good, they should see you now.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Sun, 17 Jul 2011 08:08:33 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2054565,from=rss#post2054565https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2054565,from=rss#post2054565After another close call in fog with almost being rear ended I finally got around to this. Did it a little different. Installed 4 80mm red stop/run leds on the towbar frame. Ran the cabling into the wheel storage bay. Removed the foam jack holder and accessed trailer cabling. Spliced in 2 10mA relays on the trailer stop and run wires. Used the rear fog wire to fed new lights via these relays. Found the spot for rear fog relay in engine bay and for now put a bridge across it. Latter on might do the conversion to switch via the fog light switch. Run light. Stop is brighter and should light up fog nicely without being obnoxious during normal weather. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Privatteer)Sat, 16 Jul 2011 21:24:51 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2052450,from=rss#post2052450https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2052450,from=rss#post2052450I found a Narva relay at Auto Pro that fitted for only $8.95nondisclosed_email@example.com (waky53)Wed, 11 May 2011 11:43:19 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2052287,from=rss#post2052287https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2052287,from=rss#post2052287Hi Darren, Yes, the cheaper alternative is that I have a stack of these relays from the wreckers LOL By the way, am selling the genuine Nissan rear fog light I have taken off my exy (selling the car) and I can give you a free Nissan relay with it if you want. The RFL I sold you came with a push in type switch that has an LED in it to indicate the RFL is in use, all 3 wires need to be connected. I haven't tested this switch myself, but since the black wire is the one left un-used, try grounding it and see if that will trigger the LED to light-up when the RFL is on. P.S. I just checked the packaging and this black wire is marked as "ground", so earth it to a metal surface under the steering column.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 06 Oct 2008 20:14:14 +0000 Re: Rear Fog Light DIY Installation (Methods 1 & 2 and 3)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2017324,from=rss#post2017324https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2017324,from=rss#post2017324quote:jalalski wrote: I'd say that you're missing power to the LED in the switch, as it the LED in it needs power to operate. I managed to get hold of four RV lights from the good old USA for about $15 each. I had to slice off about 3mm from each end & modify the opening in the bumper bar to suit. I used method 3 for connections with a Narva relay in the engine bay relay box ($8.95 from Auto Pro)& a switch in the drivers side switch panel. The switch turns the RFL on/off when the front foglight is switched & I get the orange RFL indicator in the instrument panel. So for a relay, switch, light, cable & a few connectors, maybe $35 - Sweet! If anyone would like a cheap RFL, I have 3 of the RV lights left. No room to drill anywhere from what I can see, unless you mean to drill the actual black plastic cover and have the LED point into the corresponding indicator hole?? (EDIT) I haven't got your photos yet, but I have worked it out just now I was looking at the wrong end of the cluster LOL I know what you now mean by the black cover and it is the front black cover and not the rear one (which will expose the circuit board), to get to the cover, am gonna need to remove the plastic clear cover (in front of the dials) then remove this black cover and the plastic black strip covering each indicator LED. You drilled under the 3rd position of the RFL LED for it to sit there?
