Re: Towbar
Hi and administrator asked if I would post about my Hayman Reece hitch.
I had it installed by Nissan and was told by the dealer that it was Haymen Reece genuine. Having just taken a gook look at it, I can not see any insignia other than Nissan...So now I am not sure.
It cost me $495.00 installed, and has a HR tongue and ball which I can detach when not needing to tow. It is rated to 2000kg (braking)and looks flash.
I can take some photos if anyone is interested, but with all nissan badging, I am not sure this is necessary.

Re: Towbar
Thanks Rob,
Actually, I would be very interested to see pics of the Hayman Reece towbar, because I thought Nissan dealers only used the Nissan branded towbar.
Depending on your pics, it may well turn-out that Nissan is using a Hayman Reece towbar and re-badging it and if this is case, we're all talking about one type of towbar for the xtrail
This is also the case with the factory roof racks, where nissan re-badges them.

Re: Towbar
Jalal,
The Hayman Reece was a patented design. Not just a brand, but a whole style designed for versatile attachments and modifications for varied towing needs. The Square hitch that Nissan badge is a Hayman Reece. And as such needs to meet all of the same standards.
We are talking Coke and Pepsi, MacDonalds and Hungry Jacks.
I will attemp to photograph mine but am assured by Nissan that the Nissan Bar is Genuine Hayman Reece.
Watch this space for photos soon

Re: Towbar
Rob,
And now confusion sets in (on my part at least)
I thought that Hayman Reese was a "brand" and manufacturer of a specific towbar, one of which was designed to fit the xtrail.
The Hayman Reese website does suggest they manufacture towbars (amongst other towing accessories)
You could be correct in saying that Nissan is using the Genuine Hayman Reese Towbar, but I don't think this is clear to some members who are asking which one to get a "Hayman Resse" OR "Nissan Genuine" towbar!
So depending on your pics, it may prove that both are Pepsi or both are Hungry Jacks LOL
Have a look at THIS Genuine Nissan towbar and tell me if yours looks the same.

Re: Towbar
Jalal,
Yes this is the same as mine.
Now Hayman Reece do design and manufacture and then wholesale and retail the hitch. These can be rebadged by certain organisations. Nissan as you know, has a huge influence in the off road industry with a long 4x4 pedegree and have earned the right to rebadge and onsell the HR towing system.
So at the end of the day. Nissan Bars are Hayman Reece rebadged. The standards are identical...Nissan can not afford to skimp on quality with this kind of stuff.
I have the pics but dunno how to post them..I click on the (insert image) thingy and it wants a http address. How do I get the pics from my desktop onto this web?
(EDIT)
Hayman Reese website state the following.
Q: How do I know that the towbar I have purchased is a Hayman Reese?
A: Hayman Reese have a compliance plate on all their towbars with our name, the part number and vehicle description. This is usually found on the towbar cross member. A sticker with the Hayman Reese logo is also placed in a visible position on the towbar for identification.
If you have a hitch receiver towbar it can be readily identified by the aluminium collar which is fastened around the square receiver section.
I can not find any HR insignia on my Nissan Bar. So Nissan may be feeding me a bit of hogwash.
Cranky now.

Re: Towbar
OK Rob,
I think we're getting to the bottom of this.
Yours is whats called a "Genuine Nissan" type of towbar.
Even though it may well and trully be a re-badged "Hayman Towbar" it is not so, because it does not have the Hayman Brand on it.
RE: Posting pics, please refer to THIS guide.
We're still looking for someone to show us the Hayman Reese towbar then if they bought it as an aftermarket add on.

Re: Towbar
Thanks Rob.
This is the "genuine nissan" towbar for sure. I can tell from the bracket which has 3 bolts and that whole in the middle.
Are the pics that size or have you reduced them too much? they look a bit too small.
You can upload normal size pics to Imageshack and use the "thumbnail" code for Forums when you include them in your post.
Thanks for the pics anyway. They sorted-out the earlier confusion we had.
