Re: Cargo Barrier
Danny,
From what I've seen at the wreckers, the cargo barrier can be easily removed if you need to fold the seats down.
It also provides an added structural strength is case of a roll-over (God forbid of course)

Re: Custom Made Half Cargo Barrier

Hi all.
I have been asked to put some information here about my custom made cargo barrier that i have in my exy. I got it at a local (Adelaide) roof rack, bull bar etc outlet. It is basically the same dimensions as a Milford Barrier using the same materials as the Milford Barrier and finished in black powdercoat. The mounting mechanism is the same as well with the 4 arms and quick release bolts. The only difference is that the bottom section is not filled with mesh, it is open to the rear seat backs. I got to choose the height the cross member went at and mesh was welded in to the top section.
Advantages
Can lay down the seats and slide in long objects without removing the Barrier
Can get access to the rear cargo area via the back seat by folding the back seat forward. This is particularly useful when i carry my pushbike on the back and cannot open the tailgate.
There is more useable space to load right up to the back of the seats
There is more space to allow the back seats to recline
Can load the back cargo area to the roof easily.
Built as strong (same materials) as Milford Barrier
Disadvantages
No compliance plate showing load ratings as does not comply to relevant AS.
Will not guarantee no objects can get past in an accident situation (between top of seat back and barrier).
Here the advantages clearly outweight the disadvantages. It is better to have something there than nothing at all. It is still easily removed if required. And it cost the same as getting a full Milford Barrier ($450) and was made on site to fit.
I will post some photos and dimensions as soon as i work out how to do it. I hope this is useful to someone.

This sounds good. Where can we get one?
