Forum Glitches?

Is it just me, or does it say at the bottom of the forum main page (the page that lists all the forum folders - in the "Board Statistics" section) that I am the newest member, or perhaps it says you are the newest member, depending on who you log in as?

Perhaps it should read "most recent member to log in"?

Was this just a test to see who is actually paying attention to what's being displayed on the pages? emoticon

Re: Forum Glitches?

Somehow I had a feeling you gonna ask this Rich when you made the post in Intro LOL emoticon

In case you haven't noticed we have now implemented a new forum rule which will require all newbies to make the first post in the Intro Section of the forum before being able to post anywhere else.

The rule is working based on the Members List showing at the bottom of the forum, so if a newbie is not on that list, they will only be able to make their first post in Intro. and the forum software will automatically grant them membership based on that first post.

This rule has in turn created a new "hidden" members list and the way it operates at the moment (because it's a new rule) is that any of the existing members making a post in Intro will be searched on from that "hidden" list and their name will be picked when they make that post.

It is (as Runboard Support called it) a forum "quirk" LOL

If you look under your username in post view, you will notice that your registration date has not changed and even if you open the members list page, you will not be showing as the member who joined on 25/6 (i.e. newbie)

It also wont increase the total registered members count at all.

So, this will keep happening until a newbie joins the forum and makes a post in Intro and their name will appear as the newest member to join.

So don't worry mate, you still get to keep your 6 stars status LOL emoticon

Re: Forum Glitches?

In the context of FYI....

I notice that a lot of the sections are currently showing "new posts" when in fact there are not any there....

This has happened, from time to time, for me.

Just thought I'd mention it...

Re: Forum Glitches?

Yeh Roger I also had this about a week ago.
Just go into each section and in there it only shows which are actually NEW.
Read them and then exit that section with the "Mark Forum As Read" which seems to clear the NEW off the from page.

Re: Forum Glitches?

Thanks Guys,

I only noticed and experienced this last night.

Usually when I go to the new reply via the email notification and exit by pressing the forum structure links, it clears the NEW Post icon, but it hasn't done that last night and the NEW icon remained against the thread which I have already read.

Pressing "Mark forum as read" will clear it, but it is not the correct way it should operate.

I will keep an eye on this and if it continues, I'll report it to the Runboard Support.

It seems to be working fine now and I have tested it with Nathan's new reply above.

Re: Forum Glitches?

Not quite sure if we are talking about the same issue.....

I'm seeing the "new post" flashing icon against sections/areas that have not had a post in them for months & months....

There are no new posts in those sections - just a "mirage" which must be a reflection from the sand dunes down under emoticon

Cheers = Roger

P.S. Might be the meds I'm on emoticon

Re: Forum Glitches?

Hi Roger,

Can you please take a screen snap-shot next time it happens, as I haven't noticed this at all.

If you're referring to old Poll threads having a new post against them without a new reply being visible, then this is normal, as registering a new vote in an old poll thread will generate a NEW POST icon against that thread.

Also, please remember to "mark all forums as read" whenever you leave/log-out the forum for the day.
