Ben
You were pretty lucky with that mudhole. The fact that there was a lot of water and it looked like a pool in your photo really disguises what is underneath - which are some deeper wheel ruts. Here is a photo from a few weeks ago to give you an idea

That climb out of Limeburners is a good one (out the eastern side) when I was up there with sam and JD in their xtrails we went down it and discussed whether it would be okay in an exy to climb out that way. I think we decided it would be a good challenge in a manual and probably achievable in a auto

Did you cross the Kowmung as well. Last year the creek was easy for the xtrail but the ruts on the exit required a bit of "picking a good line" which they both did easy. A few weeks ago though the exit had been graded but there was a deep hole on the right hand side that I wouldnt have liked to have seen an xtrail drop into.

You can see sams report at this link and it has some pics of them coming down the hill which shows how good an effort it was going up:

Re: Yerranderie (Blue Mtns NP)

There is a great thread about Yerranderie here - good reports, folks.
Jalal, maybe you could get the number plate ones over to DIY or Q&A, cos it might save someone having to get a new number plate who mightn't notice it in this thread..

G'day Peter,

It's pretty amazing how sharp the edges of the ruts are - I guess once you get a certain depth everyone keeps to the same path and re-inforces the rut, til you end up with a nice big hole! I reckon the water would've only been ~10-15cm higher than your photo, but it was enough to hide the true nature of it! Still, learned my lesson...

Yeah, my exy's an auto, which allowed me to not have to worry about a clutch while picking my way up. I think the exy handled it very well, and I have no doubt an experienced driver could do it in a manual without grief.

Unfortunately we didn't get over to cross the Kowmung, we're from Wollongong so came up via Wombeyan on the way in, and we ran out of time and had to head home via Taralga/Goulburn on Sunday. I had hoped to get over to Kanangra Walls for lunch Sunday, but we decided to spend more time exploring Yerranderie. So now I have an extra reason to go back :-)

Ben

I forgot I had these videos of Sam and JD climbing out of the river (which is a bit easier at the moment)

JD Note he only just missed the last bit - reversed back and did it with ease
