Sydney - Royal National Park & Kurnell sand dunes

Hey guys...

I know the RNP is a great drive for performance cars and motorbikes, but I have a feeling there would be some excellent 4WD-only tracks hidden in there somewhere...

If anyone knows of any offroad tracks accessible to the public in the RNP, could they please reply back here? Maybe they're easily-missed tracks off the dirt roads heading down to some of the beaches?

Another place I can think of in the area would be Kurnell sand dunes... Not one I'd want to do on my own due to the higher risk of getting bogged in sand, but would be willing to give it a go with some other locals - I have basic recovery gear now - snatch straps and shackles, and a 12V air compressor to pump the tyres back up again afterwards emoticon

Pretty sure every track in RNP is locked gate. Same for the areas around Menai.
South Coast State Forests (beyond Nowra arent to bad.
For sand have you tried Boat harbour down at Kurnell. Costs about $15 for day pass and has dunes and beach runs. Its on the road to Kurnell

Hi Rich, cant help you much on RNP or Kurnell, but was wondering what strap and shackles set up you got and how much it cost?

Is it the snatch strap, plus equaliser strap, plus a couple of shackles ?

I got the gear from 4wd megastores @ emu plains...

"Snatchum kit 4WD in carry bag" $90
"bridle strap 3m x 4T x 50mm incl. hooks" $35
"extra seal tubeless tyre repair kit" $80.

I'll have a look at the snatchum kit to see exactly what's in it, but I'm sure it had gloves, full size snatch strap, shackles etc. all in a carry bag/case.

I could've got a smaller tyre repair kit but this one comes with a heap of extra plugs - and getting the extra plugs separate is almost as much as the whole kit.

I thought all that was pretty good for just over $200...

I also picked up some yellow lens covers for my Blitz 240's... I haven't put them on yet though.
