Just purchased new TI C-Trail and was wondering if anyone had fitted suspension upgrades to their X-Trails?

Cheers

Re: SUSPENSION UPGRADES

What kind of uspension upgrades do you plan on doing? In Japan Jaos and Motorage, for example, have available lift kits with coil springs and shocks. Jaos alos offers upper pillow mounts, while both offer front and rear strut braces. Nismo also offers a shock/coil combo. Koni sells shocks while Eibach also sells coil springs to lower the X.

Re: SUSPENSION UPGRADES

Received a email from ARB and they advised that a 30-40mm lift is about 1 mth away due to further testing.
Will be about $600 Springs and Shocks and advised that we should contact Nissan re warranty (IF under warranty still) and insurance company.

Re: SUSPENSION UPGRADES

$600 is pretty good. Is that installed. Either way that is great an inline with the prices for most "popular" upgrades. My GQ was 50mm 950 installed (with wheel alignment) and that was a common install.
Normally insurance and RTA are ok up to 50mm. Still check but it had no impact on mine - although there was a rstriction that no-one under 21 can drive it because of the lift. If its ARB I wouldnt mind betting its Old man Emu - I am a fan of them.
cheers

Re: SUSPENSION UPGRADES

Have had a discussion with Nissan Australia earlier today and they have advised that they cannot approve any modifications to the Xtrail Suspension or other components and we do so ant own risk.

Modifications can void warranty on Vehicle regardless a which part fails if any.
Not worht the chance while under warranty.

If Nissan Australia would only see the chrome modifcation on my car! emoticon Oops, I better block nissan australian from being able to access my web site.

Were they at least prepared to look at the engineering designs, tests..etc before rejecting the idea?

Agre that is probably true

but

I actually thought that to void a warranty the modification would have to be the cause for the failure or claim.

Putting a new seat in doesnt mean your engine is no longer covered.

Upgrading suspension, or raising it can affect otherthings like cv's and the like, but not void an entire warranty. I mean look at how many new patrols ect have mods and still get warranty work done.

I think you have been given the wrong advise and probably by the wrong person, who shouldnt make such claims.

I just found this example. Its not nissan by subi australia

quote:

Questions Answers
How will modifications affect my warranty? If you have a concern that can be attributed to a modification, then that concern will not be warranted as it is no longer a result of manufacturing defect. Therefore, to answer your question the total vehicle warranty is not void, but be aware changes in some system may effect others systems adversely.

http://subaru.com.au/feedback/

So while I am not saying that a change of suspension height will be ok, I know TJM were trying to do a lift as well - not sure if they finished it or abandoned it - may be worth checking
I just think that you have been given the wrong advice

There is a bit more here
http://www.racq.com.au/13_news/articles/20040213_Car_modificatio.htm

Doesnt help find the right person though, but maybe worth checking your actual warranty booklook.
