Replacing Eclipse AVN726EA

Hi All,

I'm in the process of replacing the Eclipse AVN726EA with a newer Kenwood with Apple Play and other features to make it a bit more modern.

I've searched everywhere for this, but with no luck.

I want to retain the revising camera, but can't seem to find an adapter or a solution to converting it from the plug to an RCA and +/- power.

Has anyone upgraded the Eclipse stereo and retained the camera using an adapter or modified the plug?

The plug has 2 black, a yellow and a red cable, does anyone know what each colour is for, I was thinking I could retrofit with an RCA plug from Jaycar if there are no quick fixes.

Cheers

Re: Replacing Eclipse AVN726EA

HI Callum,

The online installation manual for the Eclipse shows 3 rca connectors "H" for stereo audio and video input. The yellow is the video input which you have probably already used for the reversing camera and you should be able to find this at the camera and connect it directly to the new head unit, probably with either an extension rca-rca cable or one which might come with the new unit.

Re: Replacing Eclipse AVN726EA

Thanks Kev.

But unfortunately, it's not that easy, the "H" connections are for other video inputs. Like from older iPods or other media.

It's the 4 pin input "B" that is for the rear view camera. This then goes to a green 5 pin plug (but only 4 pins are used). It looks to have the video supply and power for the camera.

To make it more confusing, the camera used is cc-1095n-a, can't find much info on it or what voltage it uses and it's not the eclipse BEC108 as mentioned in the manual.

I'm trying to find out how I can convert this 5 pin plug into an RCA and +/- power or if there is an adapter out there.

I was hoping to retain the camera for easier install, but I'm open to the option of replacing it with a newer one with higher res and wider viewing. I just didn't want to pull apart all the trim.

What have others done to solve this issue, new camera, adapter, modify, etc...
