What wiring connector is this

Hi guys....Can anyone advise me what the circled electrical connection in the wiring harness is used for. My Exy is a T31 2010 (series 2) petrol 2.5L CVT.

Hi Dave,
Just had a look under the bonnet of mine and I don't have that plug. I think I have a series or two after your model, so maybe they changed the harness there at some point.

Re: What wiring connector is this

That's interesting Eric as I thought you had the same series 2 as mine. My build date is May 2010. Series 2 came out first in late 2009 so I believe.
Series 3 came out with LED in the tail lights in Oct 2010 I believe and I don't recall you having LED??? But I could be mistaken. Ah well.

Hope you are hanging in there OK during this lockdown. Kevin (revhead Kev) suggested to me that we may have a social meetup again once all this covid stuff settles down, Sounds great to me and I'm sure others would agree.

Dave

I do have LED taillights on mine and the build date was late 2010 MY11. We're doing OK thanks, and that meetup sounds great to me too. Looking forward to it.

Ok Eric...then it is a series 3 you have so the harness may indeed be different .
Thanks for your replies.

cheers

Re: What wiring connector is this

By the location I think it is an electric cooling fan feed.

To test you would need a multi meter and a warm engine and test to see if you get current when the fan kicks in. Try un plugging the feed to the electric fan on the radiator and see if the plug is the same. I have also known other accessories to be wired with a plug such as additional driving lights but these usually shouldn't be wired into the headlight circuit by law here, but same thing, test the voltage with high beam on across the plug, failing that ask a dealer if in.

It maybe due to the same wiring loom being used on other vehicles that require 2 fans, or for a intercooler, or air con fan.

Re: What wiring connector is this

A close-up photo of the end of the socket to show the pins and patterns, as well as the colour of the wires leading to it will help to identify from the workshop wiring diagrams specifically what it is for.

Page 107 section PG.pdf (Power Supply and Ground circuit) in the Nissan workshop manuals may be a good starting point. Just guessing - is it E54?

Alternatively, plug your VIN into the Dubai website PARTSOUQ.COM and examine your wiring diagrams carefully. This website is a perfect clone of the same screens your dealer Spare Parts person sees when they are looking up part numbers. It is the very first bookmark you should save on your web browser as a goto - save with your VIN preset and you will go directly into the parts that are specific to the exact model you had delivered from the factory - no guessing. the website covers many manufacturers and is very accurate.

Warning, do not sign up as you will get lots of spam, but a very useful site for looking up genuine part numbers the dealer uses, and for buying from places like eBay and Amazon that can cross-reference to genuine part numbers, or sounding like you are in the industry and getting trade prices from the dealer.
