T31 - Clicking sound from left side CV shaft - after replacement

Hi all,

I've noticed a clicking sound coming from what sounds like the front passenger side CV when on full lock. Both CV's were replaced around a year ago and I don't do a whole lot of off-roading (mainly dirt roads etc).

I brought this up with my mechanic and and made sure the axle nut was a tight as it can be, even making a mark to see if any movement which there was not.

A quick search online to find the stock specs for the T31 and I discovered the car has been lifted 7cm prior to me having it, would this be enough of an angle on the CV to create this clicking?

The thing is I don't recall this clicking on my old CV's...

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Jack

Hi Jack,

Is there any steering wobble as you accelerate around 40-60kph as well ?

Have you searched and read through this thread I posted ?
Not all CV shafts are the same

Hey Kev, thanks for the reply.

Yes did come across that thread but as I didn't have any lights going on or off didn't read the whole thread, which I have now.

No shudder at any speed, in fact the car drives great it's just when parking and needing to go full lock in either direction that the clicks/pops happens.

Cheers

Were they reconditioned genuine Nissan driveshafts or aftermarket ones ?
Have you checked if there is a split in the CV boot letting the grease out so it has run dry ?

Hi Kev,

Brand new aftermarket cv shafts, and no split or damage in the boots at all. Mechanic went under the car with light and had a thorough look around and no damage to them.

My last cv's had split so have a pretty good idea how they sounded and they would click even on acceleration.

It's strange because driving normally they're fine it's only on full lock..
