posticon stuck / overtightened / burned or all of the above spark plugs

 Hey guys,

I serviced the wifes Qr20 over the weekend. everything was easy. did the gearbox oil, engine oil, all the filters etc. then i got to the spark plugs... mother of Moses! Someone with tree trunks for arms have tightened these sparkies, or cross thread them or they've been in since 07'.

Obviously i'm nervous i'm going to snap them off emoticon . i sprayed Penetrating oil and left them over night. no dice. they still stuck.

the oils and filters i took off looked clean so it was serviced by the previous owner but these sparkies feels like they were muscled in with locktite emoticon

any advice? i've watched a few you tube videos of how to remove the with an easyout tool after they snapped.. but i don't want to go that far.

thanks,
Leon

Re: stuck / overtightened / burned or all of the above spark plugs

Did you put the penetrating oil in while the engine was cold or warm ?

Stuck plugs can usually be from either a carbon buildup from the combustion chamber or corrosion due to moisture in the spark plug hole past the connector.
Try alternate tightening, then loosening, each time loosening a bit more until the force becomes less to loosen. The spark plugs will always feel tight to loosen and you may hear some squeaking as the corrosion or buildup is gradually broken free from the mating threads.

Due to the uneven expansion of the metal sparkplug threads and the alloy head it is recommended to remove them while the engine is cold.
