Merry Christmas 2020

It has been a very tough year for everyone...forced isolation, lockdowns, sickness and unfortunately loss of a loved one for some.
But there is potentially a light at the end of this very dark tunnel. How far away it is and if there will not be another setback after, we will not know until we get there.

Though the forum is not as active these days as it once was, we have still had just over 200 new members join, some introducing themselves, some just browsing the many pieces of information we have to solve a problem.

There have not been many trips these last few years. This year obviously due to the pandemic and all the travel restrictions it has forced upon us, previous years possibly due to longtime members leaving, changing vehicles or newer members not being inclined to take their "soft roader" out away from the normal suburban roads. Personally my Series 1 T30 is now 17 years old and was showing signs of its age, so I thought, being down on power and using excessive fuel. After an engine rebuild for timing chain replacement and finding a bent piston rod from being hydro-locked during a creek crossing over 10 years ago, it now has a renewed life combined with full underbody bushing and suspension replacement.

2021 promises a few surprises. I have big plans for my T30 so check out my ride thread if you are curious and keep watch for updates.
Once we can all get out and about again without any restrictions, I'll be organising some trips and a group meet-and-greet in Sydney especially for new members to meet our older members. I encourage our interstate active members to do the same.

Looking forward to having the same thriving Xtrail social community we once had and introducing many of our new members to the joys and capabilities of our fantastic little offroaders.

Keep safe and well everyone.

Re: Merry Christmas 2020

And all the very best to to you and yours Kev during this festive season and beyond. .

I still have my T31 after 10 years although I had planned to upgrade during this year but changed circumstances resulted in my deciding to keep it for a while longer. I will have the cv joints replaced (slight wobble in one) prior to my wife and I touring to Darwin about mid 2021 if covid allows us. Prior to that, a meet up after all this time sounds like a great idea. You are doing a great job with your volunteer Admin role and it suggests that you just have to hang on to your 17yo exy for a lot lot longer.

Enjoy the Christmas/New Year break and may all go well with you in 2021.
