DPF and Corona Virus

With the corona virus limiting our weekend trips (when the DFP would normally get a chance to regen) I was wondering what others are doing to make sure their xtrails are still doing a regen. I'm concerned that only being allowed to do short trips for essential needs is going to cause a bunch of diesel owners problems.

Note: I fully appreciate the restrictions and why we have to have them, just interested in what (if anything) we can do about DFPs getting blocked.

Re: DFP and Corona Virus

Interesting point Dan.

Maybe contact your dealer with the discussion around the requirement by Nissan for owners to do occasional longer trips for the regen to take place and that with Covid-19 restrictions, will Nissan cover the costs of a forced regen if needed ?

Re: DFP and Corona Virus

Did you see my posts on PIDs for monitor regen. It's pretty easy to see soot mass and DPF status using a simple ODB2 tools and Torque Pro.

I know exactly when my car is getting to the point of needing a regen, when it kicks in and when it has stopped.

TBH it doesn't usually take long to regen and bring the soot mass down.

Re: DFP and Corona Virus

I tried them out but couldn't get them to work... I'll try again today.

With the current lockdown the xtrail isn't moving more than a km or so.... zero chance of a regen...

Re: DFP and Corona Virus

Mine usually kicks in around 25+ but i've got to be on the motorway or a constant stretch doing a reasonable speed.

Thanks

Re:

Mine is now at 21. I've put it on limited driving now (using the petrol car for the shopping trips) because I can't even drive it far enough to warm it up, and no way to do a regen.
When Melbourne (finally) gets out of lockdown I'll give it a good run on the highway.

Re: Re:

If you remember can you post what level of soot it went down to after the regen? Mine never goes below about 10 which i think is a mismatch with the DPF and Diff Press sensor.

Also you should see the dpf mode go to 1 for normal then go up to 4 after about 12 mg.
