Removing switch blank

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on removing the switch blanks on the driver's side near the head light angle switch? I'd prefer to not take off the dash if I don't have to.

Thanks,
Nathan

Re:

I remember there was a trick to it, as it wasn't a push-in type. I think you need to get to the blank from behind/under the dash and squeeze the top and bottom tabs for it to push out. You can remove the fuse box cover to get better access to it from the back.

Re:

You do need to get in behind the blanks to remove them - the trick I've found is to remove the screw near the bonnet release lever and start pulling that panel outwards. It won't come out far near the bonnet release (as the cable itself is holding it in) but work around the right side (near the door) then in towards the steering wheel and you'll be able to pull enough out to get in behind the blank. The panel itself is just held in with clips - pull the panel gently and it should come fairly easily.

Once the panel is far enough out to get a small screwdriver in behind the blank, there is a tab at the top and bottom that you need to work loose as you apply pressure from the FRONT of the blank (so the tab doesn't click back in). The blank will then just slide out the BACK of the panel.

Hopefully that makes sense! I'll be doing just this in a day or two so can get some pictures up if that helps.

*Edited as the blanks push the other way than I thought from the panel*

Correction to my reply before - I put in a new switch over the weekend and the original blanks push out the back of the panel (so towards the front of the car) - you still need to get in behind them to get the tabs out though.

Re: Removing switch blank

Hi Nathan...I have just gone through this process.First of all remove the fusebox cover.Using a small jewellers type screwdriver from the front carefully lever the blank upwards while firmly pushing the bottom of the blank inwards...the bottom should disengage and you can carefully remove it from the back of the dash panel...I hope this makes sense.
