Re: Horn wiring

Why take the horn wire from the steering wheel ?

When I wired my Stebel horn, I used a length of twin wire for the isolation switch in the dash which came from the OEM horn wire in the engine bay through the firewall to the switch and back to the Stebel relay. So much easier than trying to find the horn relay in the steering column or behind the dash.

I agree, so my next question is where that wire is.
In the past, there was always a single horn, this xtrail has two horns and i cant find the sigle wire to break into.

Re: Horn wiring

The +ve wire to either horn will do if you just want to parallel the horns like I did.
I have my OEM horn in parallel with the Stebel, that way if something happens to either I still have one horn working.
I feel this is a better option than switching between horns so my switch just isolates the Stebel relay for when I put the Xtrail into service or rego inspections.
