Re:

Not entirely correct..
In the consumer range - The EDS module will allow you to reset codes etc

In the professional range, the higher end Snap-on units can do manipulative testing of ABS / Fuel Pump / Injectors etc...

These items are deemed saftey / essential service items and the manufacturer is not allowed to "lock" third parties out and force you to use them for servicing. That is known as Third Line Forcing - and is very much illegal in Australia. So aftermarket companies must be allowed access to the essential pasrt of the computer needed for diagnostic and service matters.

But if you want to play with interior light delays, door chimes, headlight auto off times, key programming etc... then they are not deemed essential service items, and hence they are propitiatory software access only...

That's right but anything to do with changing the ECU settings for performance enhancing reasons (for example) which includes but not limited to Fuel Maps..etc is out of bounds to both the consumer and even a professional range I would have thought.

Re:software

Again, not talking about changing mappings, talking about controlling components for testing (Like my BMW software does and the Hexcode GS911)

So are you saying Tom's software doesn't do what the screen shots says it does. ie. Like this screen says it can turn the fuel pump On/Off? And things like adjust idle, etc.

And this screen says it can clear the adaptions/learning tables?

And this screen says it can shut down cylibders one by one;

My BMW software can do things like turn cooling fans on/off, fuel pump on/off. change position of idle air bypass stepper valves, plus readouts of all the sensors, disconnected, etc.

Re:

Yep you won't be able to perform the change of those parameters with the Exy ECU mate.

Re:

As I said above,

The Nissan ECU ( like many others) are locked for the "Modification" of certain parameters.

BUT, You can Manipulate and control components for the purpose of TESTING / SERVICE

ie, you can control the ABS Pump to prime and Run, You can force the fuel pump to switch on, you can test your Radiator cooling fans.

Re:

The only one I have used that worked well was the Snap-On Modus System.
That's not in the realm for 99% of people though....

Re: Re:ECU Reader

Xers, As my mini bluetooth code scanner doesn't work due to some kind of incompatability, I'm wondering if the AUTEL Code Reader MaxScan VAG405 would be the way to go, as it reads directly from the port under the dash rather than depend on bluetooth. From AliExpress, the price if reasonable and a few YouTubers recommend this scanner. I particularly want to investigate am unresponsive accelerator problem that has just arisen. Cheers, BRIAN

Re: Re:ECU Reader

Fellow Xers, As my mini scanner "HHOBD Advanced" didn't work, I ordered a "LAUNCH Creader 3001", very much recommended on YouTube. Alas, it also does NOT work on my petrol-driven 2007/8 t30 here in Brazil, whether just with the ignition on or with the engine idling. Could my Xy be compatible with OBDI (i.e. OBD one) instead of OBDII, requiring an older scanner ? Could the Nissan dealer have disactivated the socket under the instrument panel ? I'd like to scan my car for a momentary unresponsive throttle/accelerator at around 80Km/hr, i.e taking my foot off and then trying to accelerate again, nothing happens for a few seconds. I'd be grateful for any help.

Re: Nissan Consult & ECU Readers

Hi Brian,
Most OBD readers will have some status LEDs on them to indicate port power and communications.
Do you have these and are they illuminated or flashing?
