Re: *NEW T30 RECALL*Airbag Inflator*

Just recieved the notice myself for the Takata airbag issue.

Was a second owner, but they had my details from a service I did with them so people who have used Nissian for a service at some point should also be covered.

In my case I called the local wrecker who recently took it off my hands and they did not know about the recall.

Just got my letter for the Takata Passenger Airbag recall.
I'll check with them next week and report on their reply about timing.

Re:

Just had mine done and it was completed in just over an hour. When I booked it in they said allow up to 3hrs. The following day (today) we had heavy rain in Melbourne so I went to put it in All Wheel Drive mode and the green light fails to come on. Never had an issue with this before and we use it every few days. Got me thinking now that the mechanics may have dislodged a wire or something when they installed the new wiring etc for the airbag. Any thoughts anyone?

Just pull the stereo surround out and check the grey plug in the back of the 4WD switch cluster is connected.

Re: Airbag recall clarification needed

Wondering if someone can confirm some details for me as I think Nissan are trying to fob me off. They are saying because I got the airbag replaced in 2015 under Nissan sticker RA420 (ACCC Campaign R1420) it was replaced with the revised part, not a 'like for like' replacement. But in 2015 they didnt have the new part, did they? And didnt know about the second fault?

Fault #1 was the explosive wafer absorbing moisture and not deploying properly.
Fault #2 is the steel container exploding sending shards of metal towards the victim.

But does anyone know the dates each of these were announced?

Does anyone know the part numbers of the units used for replacement in 2015, and now?

I think Nissan are confused and telling me I dont need the 'new' recall, when in fact they did a 'like for like' replacement in 2015 and I still have the exploding metal canister version that can kill people.
