Re:

The service manual only shows one type of oil filter for the M9R T31 Diesel engine and that is what is shown in this thread. Am not sure where you found the 2nd type or if the terminology you're using means excactly the same thing (i.e. cartridge and internal element).

Best to contact your local Nissan dealer if in doubt. They will be able to give you the correct part number for it.

As far as I know, there is only one type of oil filter for the T31 Diesel engine.

Re: Oil filter

Thanks Jalal, I think I was being confused by the service guy who said it was a spin-on cartridge but I think he's referring to the 2.5 petrol. The diesel filter is definitely a filter element that sits in a housing so that has been clarified.

Regards
Peter

Gday everyone,

I'm trying to locate a Body Oil Filter, Part# 1520100Q0A for my exy as the last dealer has over tightened it and no one can get it off without breaking it off and needing a replacement. My local dealer is asking for $206 for a piece of plastic.

Was wondering if someone knew where I could source another one ?

Re:

Google the part number and you'll find a few suppliers overseas. THIS one for example sells it for USD$88.53, so try contacting them to see how much it'll cost to ship to Australia but whichever way you go it'll end up being cheaper than getting it from the dealer.

Alternatively, try contacting this wrecker to see if they have one (www.gmsspares.com.au)

Re:

I got an invoice from JP Parts in Japan and it came in at $131 AUD including shipping..

Dumb question but would the part number here in Australia correspond to the part number in Japan ?

Yes, the Nissan part numbers are universal. That's a good price.

Re:

Just a different unit of torque measurement in lbf·ft compared to the 25.0 which is Nm. Use the 25Nm as your guide for the torque wrench.

posticon Re: PLASTIC OIL HOUSING BODY - BROKEN EXTERNAL RING

Thank you for the above comments. I see that I am not alone with issues with this part. It has just cost AU$215 for a new part because the old one split around the external seal. The supplier advised my mechanic that this was the 5th sold in the last 2 weeks. The external ring appears to be about 1 mm and warped ? due to heat rather than over torqueing.
Other searches show that the OS postage exceeds the AU cost - as above. Is there some way the external ring can be plastic soldered and reinforced or is it possible to 3D print one? The X-Trail is a great vehicle but IMHO let down by poor Nissan service and high cost of some parts such as this one
