Xtrail T32 vs Koleos, please help me.

Hi folks, haven't visited for a while ( wife's been happy with the T31)
Unfortunately the T31 had a bit of an altercation with a tree and lost - written off.
We are now looking at a replacement.
Wife is keen on another new xtrail, says the others she's tried ( qashqai, cx5, crv) are too small.
Renault has the Koleos, seems same mechanicals as the T32 , slightly different body and interior. It looks prett nice I think.
On Saturday we'll take one for a drive and see.

We are comparing xtrail STL to Koleos Zen, both 2wd. The old xtrail was 4wd but used as one maybe 3 times in the 4 years we had it so 2 we is fine ( unless some says otherwise)

Does anyone have opinions on the Renault please, it a pretty new look, I assume the Nissan will be facelifted soon but we'd be buying the current shape that's been around for a few years.

Koleos has 5 year warranty , services are one a year ( 20000k) vs xtrail 6 months 10000km. Koleos is fixed at $299, xtrail varies but around $250/300.

What do you think, run away from Renault? We would be keeping for 5 years or so.

Needing to buy soon, this weekend, next week so would appreciate any ideas and thoughts folks.

My only input is the Nissan is more popular hence easier access to parts if needed whether it's service parts, body parts or mechanicals. Also come resale time the Nissan on name alone would appeal to a larger market.
I'm sure you will be happy either way.

Re:

youll find the nissan servicing is 10,000km or 1 year....according to their own website.

http://www.nissan.com.au/~/media/Files/Brochures/Owners/Service_Certainty/2017-01/X-TRAIL%20T32.ashx

however they havent updated their service books which show 10,000km or 6 months.
so its seems nissan is confused themselves

why would you service your car every 6 months if you havent done 10,000km..thats ridiculous, its a waste of money...hardly any car these days requires 6 months servicing.

Re: Re:

Thanks. I guess the sales staff need to learn about it too as multiple dealers have all told me it's 6 months or 10000km for services. And gave me the costs on 20000kn per year over three years.
Koleos is free services for three years (which really is 3 services)

Re:

yeah or the dealer does know that the interval has changed, but are not in a hurry to tell anyone.
if you google fixed price serving youll find a new story that nissan changed the pricing and schedule from 6 months to 12 months a couple of years ago for when the qashqai was released. it then must have changed that schedule to include other cars like the x trail as well.

here is the link
http://www.motoring.com.au/nissan-attacks-capped-service-costs-44775/

also someone on whirlpool forum questioned nissan too.

Re: Xtrail T32 vs Koleos, please help me.

Okay I think I can add something here. emoticon

I had owned a T31 STL X-Trail Manual, it was a great car, however my wife would not drive a manual so I had to change. Having trusted Nissan's engine/drivetrain I went and bought Koleos 4x4 Bose edition. Its a European badge, made is Korea and and Japanese internals.

I had the X-trail for 2 years before I sold, and The Koleos has been with me for 4 years now. Here is my comparison: (Note comparison T31 vs Koleos H45 Bose)

Whats good about T31 Xtrail:
-- The boot space was amazing, no other SUV would give that. Its not just the litres of space, its the dimension that makes it useful. This is biggest thing I miss.
-- Looks were decent., I still prefer the boxy look of T31 instead of T32 and Koleos Look.
-- Was narrower, which may be useful in situations.
-- Softer suspension, This is good top glide over rutted gravel road.

Whats good about Koleos H45 Bose.
-- Renault has taken XTrail and improved it by adding some neat things.
-- electronic handbrake.and hill start is automatic,i.e Handbrake automatically engages and disengages on incline.
-- Higher seating position. Its a lot higher "almost" like a Pajero or Hilux.
-- Stiffer suspension. its the stiffest I have been on. its good for cornering, does not lean much, but makes it uncomfortable on gravel road. Lower your air pressure!
-- Automatic lights and wipers.
-- Nicer audio, but lots of annoying small buttons everywhere.
-- Wider car. more cabin room.
-- Boot is smaller and the sloping roof steals space. I can just manage 20inch kids bike along with other things for a picnic.
--Service is once a year or 15000 KM caped for first three years. 5 year warranty (Main reason I went because I did not trust the CVT's longevity)
-- This is heaver car and comes with wider tyres (225) so fuel economy for school runs is around 13L/100KM but on highway its 9L/100KM, I live in hilly a suburb.
-- Overall nicer interior material and the exterior paint is good (I have white and it is left in the sun all the time).
-- I think it has better entry and departure angles for offroad, the is not much overhand in front and back.
--- storage spaces everywhere! even some under the carper of rear passengers. You will store and forget where you left it.
-- electric folding mirrors. Dual climate control.

I may feel biased towards Koleos. but thats because I bought it and had reasons for that. However I think Xtrail may give u a better overall resale value.
Also T32 Xtrail may have already addressed the short comings that I have mentioned above.

Hope this makes your decision easier (Or harder) emoticon
Cheers!
-VJ.

Re:

Hi, I have a t32 st-l 2wd and when the new Koleos came out o was keen to look. The main reason i got the Xtrail was the slid-able rear seats giving my 6 foot tall daughter enough room behind me(6"2). The koleos doesn't have this option and its a deal breaker for me.
I guess find the features that important to you and compare them.

Which ever you pick I'm sure you will love.

On my next service I'll ask the dealer whats the trade in price for mine against the face-lift T32 model.
