T30 Belt Slipping - Any Ideas There is a video showing the problem)

Hi,

Can anyone give me some advice about this problem. It appears that the belt is slipping. I've changed the belt but the problem is persisting. Has anyone had this problem in the past? I've 2004 X-Trail T30.

Here is a video showing what happens!

It just looks like the belt is jumping which would point to the tensioner needing replacement.

I've replaced the tensioner! I'm thinking it might be the harmonic balancer

Does it only happen when starting or does it also happen when the revs are raised ?
Does it happen when the engine is cold or also when started hot ?
Did you replace the whole tensioner or just the tensioner pulley ?

Thanks for the response.

It only happens when I start the car, regardless if it's cold or hot.
I have replaced the bearings in the tensioner.

Re:

There is a lot of good information relating to your problem which can be found in THIS thread and it looks like you may have to replace the pulley tensioner. Replacing bearings in the tensioner may not be enough to solve the problem and that's why the drive belt is jumping.
