She gave up the ghost! Engine / Radiator / Manifold Question & Story

Hello my fellow X-Trail lovers! Been a while...
The old girl gave up the ghost and the chain tensioner went at 245,000 km. In my infinite wisdom I changed over to some synthetic 5w-30 oil and that was it, had a major event. Then switched back to the penrite synth 5w-40 but it was too late. She is still rattling away. To be fair though it was starting long before this especially on long drives and also eating a ton of oil (a bit less than 1L per 100km).

Anyway, need some tricky advice as everything else on the car is great, including breaks, tyres and body/inside...

I've decided to go with another motor, it's a 2004 w/ 150K. Fitted and all up (they will keep mine) in $1850. I think it's a good deal and they give a 3 month warranty. The place has good reviews.

Anyway I'm also going to the following:

New quality radiator and hoses ($355 fitted)

My question though is what about those dodgy manifold catalytic converts. Should I replace the one that is in there with a low mileage one? I found a couple from some wreckers for around $100. Since the mechanics are already going to be in there, I'm thinking this might be a good idea. I'm worried the old one might be turning to dust inside and don't want it to ruin the new (used) engine.

If I get another year or two out of her I will be happy. Thanks guys for the advice, and any other thoughts sent my way will be appreciated!

With the old engine burning a lot of oil I think it would be wise to have a "clean" cat installed with the "new" engine.
