Re: Hitch mount motorcycle carriers on T31's
What's the max ball weight for the T31 ?
150kg sounds like it's getting close.
That much weight would surely need some extra help in the back springs like airbags I am guessing to help level-out the Xtrail

Re: Hitch mount motorcycle carriers on T31's
I thought of three things here;
- the first two have been correctly pointed-out by Kev. The down-weight on the tow ball is a maximum allowable of 150kg.
- the back of the car will definitely 'drop' under the weight overhanging the rear end, affecting the steering and hence, control of the car, and
- the length of the motorbike. Is it going to be too wide to sit safely across the back of the Exy, ie, will you have overhang on both sides?

Re: Hitch mount motorcycle carriers on T31's
Hi Scott,
The Aranda towbar might have a maximum ball weight of 200kg but is that a recommended weight for the Xtrail mounting points ? Check with the manufacturer and also check your Xtrail user manual to make sure they match.
While the towbar itself might handle the 200kg, the Xtrail itself might only do 150kg because of the issue with suspension, steering and stability as BP pointed out.
Go with the user manual maximum unless you get the added airbags or something else for the rear suspension.
