Looks phat!
If the petrol goes ok, the diesel will have even less issue.

As for the gearing/drivetrain stress etc, it can't be worse than having a couple of fat mates in the car, and off road you lower the pressure which probably just brings it back to stock.
Dropping the pressure on the 17s just brought the rim too close to the ground, and you lose so much clearance.

Thanks MrMez

The list for mods is now endless, start from bashplate, lift kit, rhino pioneer roof tray, light bar, cb radio ... then... patrol y61.
As for now just for the look. Using oversize tyre really makes x-trail look stand out.

*snip*

How does the spare of the same size go for fitting in the wheel well? Not sure if there'd be a difference to a 2008 model though.

Re: Thinking about oversized tyres on T31

Hello Athan,
I have recently bought BFG KO2 225/65/R17 for my T31, 2,5l petrol. They are quite expensive here in Romania(about 140€/PCs)
There are no rubbing issues on full lock. They are quite loud but they look very good on it.
I wonder if the increase in weigh for this tire will affect the wear of the bearings or fuel consumptions.

Re: Thinking about oversized tyres on T31

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I read through A LOT and didn't see it.

Given the tyre sizes people say they have fitted, I used a size calculator and some specifications from various manufacturers and came up with:

The maximum 'rolling diameter' tyre that appears to fit under a T31, (with/with out lift?) is 29 inches (28.9in), or 735mm, in a width of around 225-235.

So that translates to a maximum size tyre of:
29x10.5R15 (Good luck finding those! I have 9.5x30R15 on my Rocky and 10.5x31R15 on my Pathfinder, never heard of 10.5x29R15)

In metric:
235/75/15, 235/70/16, 215/70/17, 225/65/17 (Prob no AT/MT in 65 series aspect!)

Fuel use may go up (more friction to drive).
Berarings, unlikely. Bearing preload (tension) and grease quality, factor more than larger tyres. Have your bearings checked and re-tightened to the correct torque if you're worried. But by the time most workshops do that, you might as well pay a bit extra and just get new bearings fitted. But then you should have new bearings re-checked after 500kms as well, but no-one does it. emoticon

Re:

Can someone post me a pic of a later series t31 tyre placard?

My tyres are in need of replacing since my last post and they were rubbish.

20,000kms and all 4 are knackered. 2 punctures and just a horrible tyre

Continental cross contact lm. Urgh

Should my placard show something different. This opens options for more affordable and durable tyre options in both 16 and 17 inch.

The placard will only show the recommended sizes based on the rims you have instaled, not manufacturer or types.
