Rant of the Day - Installing after market LED Spot Lamps in 2011 Xtrail Ti

Hi All,

Just a quick rant on my attempt to DIY replace the standard H8 lamps in the fog lights with after market fan cooled LED replacements.

Gave up trying to replace the lamp in the driver side on my 2011 Nissan Xtrail Ti.

As Nissan in their infinite wisdom decided to position the windscreen washer reservoir, a insulated pipe and the cable loom for drivers side headlights module directly behind the workspace to access the drivers side fog lamp housing.

As such you can install any lamp or LED lamp that has exactly same dimensions as the original H8 lamp. Anything bigger such as fan cooled LED lamp you just can't insert into the lamp housing and rotate it 90 degree's because the windscreen washer reservoir and pipe, cable loom are in the way. The solution is to remove the washer reservoir.

The passenger side looks like there is no obstructions and could be easily changed.

I decided not to change either and since the xtrail booked in for service on Monday at local Nissan dealer i'll get them to do the install.

Soon you'll need an mechanic just to change the oil...

DIY on car's is dead....

I changed my fog lights bulbs to LEDs along a time ago and found the same problem, so I had to loosen the front bumper to gain enough access on the driver's side. It's not that hard but time consuming for sure.
