Re: Head Unit install
Moved from another thread - Posted by dronus
===================================
Howdy all,
Thought id post a pic of my T30 Ti's dash just before i took all this gear out before trading it in. As you can see there is a double din dvd/div-x/mp3/gps/bluetooth combo drive (playing the simpsons movie!) up top. It was easily installed using the original head units brackets, with some slight modification to the mounting holes. The T30 has a elevated part above the stereo which was hindering the opening and closing of the screen, but dropping it down a few mm fixed that.
As far as wiring goes, i went to Autobarn and got a couple of IEC converters - one for the stereo and the other to convert the exy's wiring to IEC - tis way i didnt have to fiddle with cutting anything, and the old stereo went straight back in (make sure you have the code handy!)
The UHF is mounted also using the brackets which come off the little draw which is normally there.
I also had 2 9" dual channel LCD screens in the back for the kids.. they were both hooked up to the head unit, and a separate harddrive div-x player in case of child movie disputes. They also had Infra red headphones which was awesome. Well worth the investment if you do long trips, keeps the kids occupied, and the wife if you can convince her to sit in the back!
Feel free to post any questions about how this all worked, might save you some headaches!

Re: Head Unit install
Very nice guide!
Its exactly the next thing, I am going to swap over on my Xy.
Does anyone know the original dimensions of the stereo?
Will save me pulling it out twice, when I get my new one lol
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Head Unit install
Hi
After randomly seeing some info on this board regarding how to install a head unit in a T31, I started having a look around to see what was available. I have recently bought a 2009 "Adventure" series and was bit excited about the prospect of putting in an Android head unit.
After a bit of looking around, I took a chance and purchased this "Joying" head unit for about $370 AUD. I also bought the trim removal tools mentioned in the original post, which I can't find at the moment.
The CarJoying website allows you to select your car make/model and then gives you suitable options. The unit took about 10 days from China, but was trackable all the way.
The install was exceptionally easy. The unit fitted perfectly and all screw holes lined up. Shorter screws were provided. Two different wiring adaptors were provided to suit different Nissan models. There was a multitude of connection options including WiFi and external amp. A GPS antennae was included.
Google play was included and works fine, so app install is no issue. Installed Nav is iGo, but there are two other apps, including Google MAPs that are also installed. The touch screen is bright and responsive, the radio works fine and the sound is no worse than the factory radio, and has a three band EQ.
It has two SSD card slots and I have installed a 64GB card with all my music on it. Works a treat.
I am currently waiting for a bluetooth OBD2 bluetooth dongle, which will give the unit access to all the on board diagnostics and sensors.
At this point I am well satisfied with the unit.
