Re: 17" tyres for T31's.
Sorry Tony, its just a little black box that can display 4 parametres ata time that you choose (RPM, speed, intake air temp etc etc), and you can adjust the spped reading in the Scannguage to reflect true ground speed with a GPS. Doesnt actually change the vehicle speedo read-out, I just have it velcroed to dash in front of speedo dial. (T30, middle of dash)
It does reset all engine management lights that I have found so far...cant actually "push" anything into the ECU though.
Back on Topic....allows me to maintain a legal speed limit with the larger ATs on the Xtrail, even though I found the larger tyres pushed the speedo closer to an actual true reading anyway, from the original tyre size.

Re:
Sorry guys,
The last couple of posts (or so) are better placed in existing threads covering "speedo accuracy" and which can be found HERE
Am afraid it has no relation to the title of this topic if someone to do a search to find this info!

Re: 17" tyres for T31's.
Well the Dunlops finally came off at 70,000kms. Interestingly did a long dirt road run (gravel) and within a minute of getting back on the bitumen, the LH rear blew (dramatically) at 110km/hr. Split inner sidewall. There was still plenty of tread left.
Put a set of Hero Atlanta 225/55 17s - keeping the BF's for the longer offroad trips. So far being all highway use, no complaints.
Some observations - the ESP does work with blowouts and the external wheel carrier looks appealing. (A previous blowout at speed in a non ESP equipped vehicle resulted in a serious accident).
John
sorry should read 225/60/17

Re:
Hey guys, could I please get your advice - I've read and searched through the many posts on 17" upgrades - I was thinking of running a 2**/65-r17 tyre, however I'm unsure if it will fit in the spare tyre well and I want to keep the same size for all 5 tyres.
215/65r17 - is nearly non existent
225/65r17 - some options exist
235/65r17 - more options exist
So first question is: will a 65 high tyre fit in the spare tyre well?
Second question is: I have been told that 235 tyres will raise the floor of the boot?
Third question is: will a 225/65r17 fit in there without raising the floor?
- From what I found:
1, if deflated to 5psi?
2, will raise floor slightly and needs to be deflated
3, as above but higher raise in floor
