Re:
What year model was the Vitara these were taken off from? Only the 2005 and up have the matching PCD with the X-Trail.

Re:
They might go on and come off easily but if there any variation in the PCD it will cause problems. They'd have to be identical for them to fit correctly. The centre bore/hole is one of the PCD measurements.
Also check that the wheels haven't got any spacers attached to them, as the previous owner might have been using on a different car all together.

Re:
Ok, figured it out...
The centre bore isn't part of, or related to the PCD, it's a separate number altogether.
PCD on both is listed as 114.3. Next closest sizes in common use are 110, and 139, each of which won't fit at all.
The Vitara has a centre bore of 60.1, and the xtrail 66.1.
The Vitara rim's centre bore is beveled on the inside, allowing it to go on easier. This also allowed a secure(ish) fit, even though it wasn't seated nearly properly.
So off to measure...
The xtrail 'axle' protrudes ~8mm. Adding ~1mm of the bevel on the hole in the wheel, should allow ~9mm clearance.
Picked up some 8mm spacers, and after installing, everything sits flush, and there is still a solid amount of force on the axle.
Now 8mm is more than I'd like, but the wheels still sit well inside the arches so I dug deeper.
The vitara rims have an offset of 50mm (meaning they're recessed INTO the car by 50mm.
The xtrail has 45mm, so they actually stick out 5mm further. 8mm spacers minus 5mm offset difference means the centre line of the new wheels sit just 3mm wider, which for suspension etc, is as good as nothing.
After a quick test drive, everything seems good. The diesel even seem to like the slightly taller gearing.
Indicated speed is still slightly faster than actual speed, but much closer now.
I'm keeping a close eye on things over the next week, but so far it seems good.
Pix soon.

Re: Problem with 16" on T31
With the spacers do you have enough of the studs to get a good threading of the wheel nuts ?

Re:
Glad you figured it out mate. I wouldn't be using those wheels on my exy regardless. They're not meant for it.
