Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi all.

I’m a new owner & member here, looking for a bit of advice on replacing the terrible satnav & cd/radio in my car.

Got some info from the UK forums too.

I’m hoping to fit a double DIN android unit (although haven’t got a clue which one, so many to choose from!)

The question I still have is regarding steering wheel controls, I’ve seen it mentioned many times in this thread but not really found an answer.

Would I NEED an adapter such as http://incartec.co.uk/nissan/1964/1033/2050/75/Browser.aspx 29-644 & 29-000
OR
Is there any chance it would work without this?

The head units seem to come with 3 wires to connect to the steering wheel controls, but some things I read seem to say I need an adapter like the above.

It’s a little confusing, especially as I don’t have the head unit yet, just trying to price everything up 1st to see if I can afford it!

Any advice/help appreciated including any Android unit recommendations

Many thanks in advance

I have a second hand 08 T31 with what i believe is the stock Nissan gps head unit. What is the best/cheapest way to update the maps?

There is also a fluctuating volume issue when listening to the radio, has anyone else experienced this, or know what the problem is and how to fix it?

For what mate? Please ensure you add your xtrail model details into your signature, as it's hard to answer questions with so many models on the forum.

Hi all,

I have a T31 2010 X-Trail ST-L.

I have recently purchased the Eonon GA2114 Android Head Unit (currently waiting on delivery). Has anybody had success setting up the steering wheel controls and if so, how did you go about this?

Thanks

Re: Autogps.com.au in-dash unit?

I was scanning the 'net looking for a reasonably priced replacement for the standard head unit in my 2011 ST 4WD petrol Xtrail and came across this one.

http://www.autogps.com.au/nissan-in-dash-gps-navigation-dvd-system-x-trail-navara-pathfinder-patrol-n750.php

While it seems to have most of the bells and whistles I want (but is no doubt tricky to install) - has anyone any experience of this unit or the supplier?

There is a fair amount of info on this forum re GPS units but I have not seen this unit mentioned. I am an experienced electrical/electronic person so am not intimidated by the task but would appreciate any advice before buying the unit.

Regards Pat

REAR VIEW BACKUP CAMERA

Fellow Xys,

Can anyone recommend a make and model that is: 1) wireless so that, besides the obvious advantage, one can later remove it easily to install in the next vehicle; 2) front camera on clip-on rearview mirror with LCD screen for rear cam image; 3) infrared night vision; 4) no drilling holes. It's very hard trying to search the jungle of tiny ads on Internet. I'd be very grateful for any tips. Cheers, BRIAN

Re: Rear view / reverse / reversing / backup camera installation

Hi Fellow X-Trailers, I've tried to find a post specifically on installing a reversing camera on my T30, even more specifically regarding whether or not I could have it inside the rear door window instead of exposing it to the elements and vandalism/theft, after all dashcams view through the front windscreen glass, which may be misted up. If this would not work, is there any advice on drilling a hole for the camera just above the number plate and making this waterproof and rustproof. The ideal would be to see some photos or video by someone who has already made this installation. Alas, the photo links don't open. Could they be sent by email or PM, The rest, i.e. the wiring of this wireless/bluetooth system is simple, and don't need any help. Cheers, BRIAN

I'm looking at replacing my radio unit with a Eonon G2110F unit. The reviews I've read say its very good and its a very good price if you shop online. Does anyone have one or heard any thing about it?
Thanks
