Re: Fuel filter

Ok, so I cleaned the sock strainer at the base of the pump and drained both sides of the fuel tank. The strainer looked clean and there was nothing at the bottom of the tank. I also gave the sparkplugs a wipe and brush with petrol, but they also looked good for their klms. I have refilled the tank twice now with Shell 98. Could the cam, crank or maybe the O2 sensor be playing up, causing the original problem without leaving a code?
The car is running fine now, but I wouldn't want it to play up again, especially out on a track somewhere.

BTW, the engine temp was normal when it was playing up.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Re:

Fuel filter changed.
Amazon for €33,00
And about 45 minutes no complications.
Followed instructions on this post...
Yes at 137,000 km internal inspection revealed dirt...but nothing dramatic.

Re: Fuel filter

As mentioned earlier, just keep a nose out for petrol smell after you fill it up as this would indicate the seal is not installed correctly.

Re: Fuel filter

Here is a youtube video of changing the T30 Gasoline (Pertol) in tank fuel filter, I just changed my 2005 QR25DE today and its exactly the same. You will need to read the fuel system section of the factory service manual before you do this.

*Note: A few things he missed in the video:
1) remove gas cap to relieve pressure inside the tank, that is why the fuel pump assembly is pushing fuel out after he disconnects the fuel line (also remove fuse for the fuel pump and start engine to relieve pressure in the fuel line).
2) at 6:43 in the video he disconnects the jet pump assembly, there is a small locking tab at the base that is pulled out gently, then it slides down to disconnect( this is not mentioned in the FSM).
3) When reinstalling put the float (wire with plastic pillow) in before you connect the jet pump assembly, its easier to fit it in this way.

This is not my video, I'm just passing it along.

Re: Fuel Filter

I have just recently bought myself a 2002 T30. It has gone just above 300.000km. After reading a bit around on this forum, I thought I would try and change the fuel filter.
This is what I pulled out..

My guess would be that it have never been changed..
I followed the instructions on the video linked in a previous comment. Worked pretty well, and was fairly simple to do.
It's definitely worth changing if you haven't done it already!

Re:

Is that with the qr20de engine?
Manual or automatic?
I have for now 145,000 km...I'm looking to keep the car for a long time.
If yours has 300,000 that is encouraging.
Thank you and best.

Re:

Hi all,

I had a quick look and on petrol cars the fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. It is stated as being maintenance free. However, for extreme use it does recommend replacing it.
