Re: LPG autogas
Thanks Les,
As you have a T31 I wonder if there is a difference in pistons and valves compared to the T30 models which might play a part.

Re: LPG autogas
Hi all,
Was just curious to hear what the current progress for this topic is?
I wrote a nice reply tonight and switching between tabs has made it refresh to blank ... :-(
There is 2 or diff types of delivering/using LPG as a second fuel type? Like direct wet injection or something?
- any better delivery systems to tank other than under rear bumper?
- safe to use? Obviously cuz it's road legal but seriously potential for accident?
So in summary, I looked up that company and found details stating they do Xtrails fitouts but all 3 successive links went no-where.
- Anyone know whether they (Aust LPG wholesalers I think) still fitout LPG tanks?
- Also was this an Adelaide based company
In terms of cost
- original estimate like 2-3yrs ago posted on here was $4-4.5k with a $2k rebate at the time to be reduced to $1k
* costs now?
* rebate state or fed thing or nonexistent anymore?
- fuel economy of LPG still good?
* current cost of LPG $/L
* availability, I.e. Rural servos cuz I live far NW Qld
Just wanting to see whether I could utilise my unused tyre well better while delivering greater distance to fill benefits. I see from previous postings this system can pay itself off when gas was half the price of fuel for the same economy and considering I drove 20,000 in 6 months could pay this off sooner than most.
Cheers for your updated thoughts,
Ben

Re: LPG autogas
Hi Steve, sorry to hear about your problems.
Could you give us a little information on how much of the time you ran it on LPG compared to petrol and what length of time was the intervals between petrol uses ?
When enquiring on the liquid injection system as they just came out, I was told by the installation company that they recommended running petrol for a percentage of time to lubricate the valves and stop them burning. There is also a product they use in the UK called "Flash Lube" for this. Have you used any ?

Re: LPG autogas
Have you contacted the installer or manufacturer's importer about the problem to get their response ?

Re: LPG autogas
Surely Steve, THAT is an installation error and ALL costs should be covered by them, INCLUDING replacement of any damaged pistons and not just the valves.
