Sunny Corner To Sofala

hey all
3 weeks ago me and the family ventured out again and did the sunny corner to Sofala track from the book 4WD Tracks in and Around Sydney.
This is another great all day track/trip and well worth adding to the list if you have not done this . A standard exy can easily drive this but not sure how much the crossing rise after heavy rain.
The beginning (this part of my vid some how got corrupted and lost the footage ) of the track from sunny corner end was a little muddy in some places with lots of branches down across parts of the track which brings you to a beautiful lookout over rural parts Bathurst .
Then you end up on a fire trail that goes for quite a while and brings you out of the bush through the hills past the odd farm .
The first gate you get to has the 4WDs only sign which leads you through along the Turon River ( which had the odd gold paner or two ) with lots of spots to stop for lunch or set up camp along the river. This road goes from narrow to rocky where you need to watch your wheel placement with one little steep hill to climb.
Once finished that part it brings you through another gate which starts the drive through the farm land with animals that can walk right up to your car or cut you off ( silly little lamb )
there is then a few gates to get out and open and plenty of water crossings to go through .
Eventually it brings you to a tiny little Gold mining town called Sofala where you can visit the old goal or visit the old pub.
Overall was a great day and would definately do this track again and try explore the area a bit more.
here is my vid of the trip

until next time

Awesome videos Blair, keep them coming.

How much do you speed up the recordings to compress them ?
Makes it look like you are driving a rally car emoticon

Re:

Did this trip on Saturday after seeing your post.

It was great! beautiful scenery and fun, easy track. A Ford Mondeo followed me for some of the '4wd recommended' track until we got to a steep rocky section where i'm pretty sure he turned back.

Camped at the campground at the end near Sofala.

Plan is to do the trip from Sunny Corner to Capertree next!

Thanks for the trip inspiring report!

Re: Re:

Maybe we need to plan a new exy outing out that way with a spot of camping.

I may have to invest in the full membership and get the ball rolling!
