Re:

Hi guys,

Had same problem- 2006 with 180xxxkms.....now fixed as per Monty's Mate's instructions (I didn't remove power steering lines, and I have the cuts to prove it). Thanks very much.....saving money is one of my favorite things!

Is it critical to have the top plate assembled in exactly the same orientation as when it was removed? I already had a mark on mine that approximately lined up with one of the castings on the cooler housing. I have realigned accordingly, but was just curious about how exact the alignment had to be.

Another thing.......I used a piece of garden hose, about 30 centimetres long, to plug the coolant outlets on the engine. The outlet with the straighter piece of hose attached is going to gush fluid, so be ready with your piece of garden hose. The other outlet (curved hose attached) only dribbles out coolant....
Only lost about 500ml of coolant total. :-)

Re: fixing an oil cooler leak

i didn't line mine up at all and i have not had any issues, i have since done the upgrade with the proper seal and i deleted the cooler rubber hoses altogether, i suspect that if it is not lined up it may place undue stress on the hoses and make them fail faster, but each to their own, i did another 4000k trip and no leaks at all.

Great info guys! I have the same problem. Does anyone know where I can get both o-rings (21304-JK20A & 21334-30F00) in Sydney?

Not sure about finding them in Sydney as Nissan doesn't sell them separately, but you will definitely find them on eBay. The last set of both O rings and the gasket got sold for about $20 bucks.

Re:

Hi,

Really simple, I called up my local Nissan dealer and they ordered the parts for in me, took 2 days. You'll need these 3 items:

Info from Graham below:

The gasket to fit back to the engine block is available from Nissan, Part Number 21304-8H700. Nissan call this a Rubber Ring??? It is a flat plastic gasket with four bolt holes and the inlet/outlet holes for the oil.

Large O Ring OD 77mm, ID 67mm, Thickness 6mm. This is a flat cross section ring. Part Number 21304-JK20A.

Small O Ring for top bolt OD 30mm, ID 24mm, Thickness 3mm. This is a round cross section ring. Part Number 21334-30F00.

Cheers

Re: fixing an oil cooler leak

Hi....thought I'd provide a follow up. Done about 8000kms since the fix, and all is well.

For those who are unsure of where to get the parts, just order them from your local Nissan dealer. I paid $32 all up, and couldn't find them cheaper online.

Cheers!
