Re:
Always has been. Same for other lights as well. Just not enforced consistently. One copper I know has 2 pairs of driving lights on top of his bullbar.

Re: Led light bar
Measure the distance between your spotlight mounting tabs and get a lightbar which is atleast 6" longer. Then the standard mountings you get with it should bolt into the holes you have. Usually the lightbar mounts are sliding so you can position them anywhere along the lightbar.

Re: Led light bar
I would think that making sure it fits between the two sides of the nudge bar would be the most important thing, so I'd measure that for starters. Then as Kev said you'll need a bar with sliding mounts on the bottom of it to fit the existing holes.
I'm very happy with my STEDI bar, the single row 10w cree version if you wanna look at those and see if any will fit.

Re: Led light bar
Hi,
Firstly, my original set up.
Spotties on the tabs with a LED bar on the top rail held on by s/steel GME aerial brackets.
However I didn't have a UHF aerial, until now.
New plan
I have an aluminium Equal Angle cut to the width of my nudge bar (so that it fits inside the outer vertical posts). This is bolted to the existing light tabs on the ECB nudge bar.
This has allowed me to widen the space between my 220mm HID spotties, and therefore also provided me with an opportunity to put an additional 1 or 2 square LED driving lights.
Can anyone (with certainty of the law in Qld) tell me whether a single square LED driving light would be allowed between my larger Spotties? I have been told that according to the rules/regs which I believe I read too, driving lights "must be mounted in pairs". I am wondering whether the fact it contains 9 LEDs would possibly get me out of the term "driving light", as LED bars are allowed to be "mounted symmetric (centre) of the vehicle".
If I was allowed to have it this way, I would mount my LED bar on the top rail again and bolt a UHF bracket to my Al EA (although the base would then be located at the mid height of the nudge bar aka the same height as the regular driving lights). This may affect the performance of the UHF I think.
I would love to add photos of these descriptions, however I can't seem to upload them through photobucket without my iPad crashing.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Ben

Re: Led light bar
To be honest Ben, mounting the LED lightbar ontop of the nudgebar could be considered in breach of the laws.
That position will soon be illegal in WA and if you read through the "intent" of the laws on positioning of accessories at the front of a vehicle, the top of the nudgebar could be considered as a pedestrian injury hazard similar to fishing-rod holders.
I would relocate the LED lightbar to under the top nudgebar rail if it is short enough to fit.

Re: Led light bar
Hi Drew,
I visited a few auto shops the other day a noted that they now sell brackets which use the existing number plate holes (2 @ the top and bottom) with a flat plate that protrudes outwards from the vehicle allowing a LED bar to be mounted to it. Not one of those dodgy looking tubes that people use, rather a very sturdy looking bracket. Not that the 12" height advantage over the number plate could compare to mounting it on a bullbar.
I have 2 x 9" HIDs in the middle bar of my ECB nudge bar, with two 90W LED driving lights in between them. I have attached a link to the LED driving lights http://korrlighting.com.au/90w-led-driving-light.html and driving lights http://www.ironman4x4.com/products/driving-lights/lights/supernova-35w-hid-driving-light-9-h11-6000k-pair
Note that I paid a good price for 2 when I signed up for the 4WD Action mag, with driving harness.
Yet to road test my setup. I will find out when I drive the 1850km to Brisbane in 48hrs.
Cheers,
Ben
