2001 xtrail engine surge, miss at 3000rpm

Hi guys i have a 2001 xtrail which has a miss or surge at 3000rpm, have had it to my mechanic twice now for 2 full days and he cant pin point the problem, have had throttle body cleaned and new crank angle sensor installed, still missing, he has had his computer hooked up and it hasn't shown a fault, as it wont do it with computer plugged in but as soon as computer is not plugged in it does it????? Any suggestions

How many kms has the car done and has it ever had the fuel filter replaced? The in-tank fuel filter needs to be changed at 100,000kms

Re:

About $60 bucks for an aftermarket one and $140 bucks for the genuine one. Check eBay.
