T30 inner CV Shafts and Boots

Bit of a rant emoticon
Well this has been a total pain in the butt for me.
My L/H inner boot split and I thought Id do the right thing as I like my Xtrail
so I bought both right and left side complete shafts off ebay for $240 plus post (not hard to find them lol).

Really Im disappointed I dont know if its because I have raised king springs or not but afterwards I did go to the effort of installing original shocks and springs with no change, On take off its would shudder, Badly emoticon

Put the L/H shaft back with the split in the boot , I know it was silly but I needed the car so now I have finally had time to sort out what Im going to do so what I tried was to grind down the old boot with the silly shape on it then cut off the end then i tried to use the boot off the ebay shaft and fit it on, was perfect but I didnt fit it as the boot would slide off a bit to easy, I took too much rubber off the old boot *sigh* the after market on was a bit bigger then I thought.

On top of that a clip inside the new inner shaft had fallen off and was floating around in the grease emoticon from looking at the bearings and the way its built and the size of them, the after market inner CV is not really suitable for a 4WD Xtrail in MY opinion, they are (a lot) smaller then the originals and dont seem to get to the same angles.

The ABS ring on the CV looks different, thicker splines but at count is the same.

Anyway I bit the bullet and went to Nissan Parts and ordered and new L/H inner boot and that was $123.50 emoticon get it tomorrow, might finally have this sorted and some useless aftermarket ones to sell on gumtree.

Sorry for your troubles, but if you searched the forum and read my post here before purchasing the driveshaft you would have saved yourself all the problems.

All the problems you detailed about your replacement driveshafts I detailed in my post about this over 4 years ago.

Re:

I read your old post several times, made me ask the seller if the ABS ring was correct and was told he never had a problem, I think he lied lol.

My post is not about the ABS ring its about how the aftermarket internals of the inner cv are not suitable for a Xtrail, maybe I should have taken a picture to explain it :/ but anyway this post is for future reference for others that might have the same problems, I expect it to be common as these cars age.

The bearings in the aftermarket inner joint are close to 10mm smaller than the original and so dont have as great of movement, not suitable for a 4WD, I dont care what the seller has told me that they have never had problems with them.

But yes the ABS ring is machined differently but as your old post states it might affect the Xtrail as well.

Anyway Update:
New inner CV boot in, easy as, all put back together and drives like new emoticon
Drivers side boot is worn but still intact but I have a spare complete shaft if the boot splits, not going to use the $280 new ebay shafts at all :/

Re: T30 inner CV Shafts and Boots

Further through the same thread I also explained that the shudder I had with worn CV's was not fixed by the new non-genuine driveshafts so I had to go back to reconditioned Nissan driveshafts and as a result I theorised that non-Nissan CV's were not suitable for the Xtrail.
