Re: Touch up paints (in spray can form)

Thanks Jalal. Google was bringing this thread up as the place to find colour codes so hopefully now anyone that finds this one will get to the latest thread.

Re:

Thread dig!

Has anyone recently found QX1 K (Diamond White, T30II)? I'd prefer a brush over spray, but will take what I can find.

Nissan tell me that Nissan Australia will no longer import it.

Repco don't stock it anymore

Supercheap don't have it.

If anyone happens to have a bottle, can you please tell me the Nissan part number? I'll try to find from overseas.

You'd probably find it on eBay UK. The part number for the QX1 touch-up paint small bottle is: KE998QX125CC

Re: Touch up paints (in spray can form)

Chris,
When I wanted touch up paint for my precision grey exy I went to a paint supply outlet in Campbelltown that mixed auto paints based on the paint code on vehicle compliance plate. You could purchase the paint straight or in a spray can.
They let me watch as they mixed about 7 different pigments to achieve the colour required. I wanted a spray can so they used a machine to seal and pressurise a can for me. I have had the can for about 3 years now and in January used it again to spray over the front bumper bar which had deep scratches I filled and sanded before spraying. The paint is a perfect match and difficult to see where the repair was done. I also purchased a spray can of clear acrylic top coat but didn't use it on the plastic bumper after spraying it. I couldn't see the need to put the top coat on.

I am sure that a paint outlet that mixes auto paint could easily prepare your required colour based on the vehicle colour code. The can I got states NET WEIGHT 7.5oz/212 GRAMS, about the same size as you buy ordinary spray cans from Bunnings etc.
The brand is SPRAY MAX..see attached web site for info

cheers

Re: Touch up paints (in spray can form)

Pretty sure sellers on eBay UK won't ship to Oz.
I emigrated to Perth last year and wasn't allowed to ship any paint at all.
Couldn't ship paint by sea or air and Oz post won't ship paint either.
I guess it must be shipped in Oz itself by carriers.
Had 2005 X-trail in UK (SVE - similar to TI in Oz I guess)
Painted the rear bumper with aerosol primer, base and clear laquer, all branded "Nissan"
In the case of the SVE in UK and the 2005 TI I now have in Oz, the bumper paint finish is identical to the body (gloss). Both have metallic silver finishes.
I used ordinary body filler, wet & dry between coats (lots of very thin coats to avoid runs), finished with clear laquer, polished after 6 weeks, genuinely good as new.
Have lots of scratches on my TI's bumper from shifting building materials so will be doing some painting and filling soon.
Supplier I used in UK on eBay will not ship to Oz.
Hoping Repco or Supercheap can supply paint.
The colour code, by the way, is on the ID plate inside the bonnet adjacent to the driver's side wing.

Re:

I have ordered many touch-up paints (brush type) from eBay UK before without any problems. Spray cans however are not allowed.

I ended up getting QX1 Diamond Pearl from ebay UK, Scratch Dr. http://www.thescratchdoctor.co.uk/

I am happy to recommend them, as it did the job well.
