G'day from Kalgoorlie

Glad to be on the X-Trail Express. Bought a T32 4x4 ST in white. Only 900km in to my X-Trailing so far, and 700 of that was bringing it back to Kal, but I love it so far. Even just pushing a button to start and seeing the DRL's reflected back to me in a window makes me smile. Would have loved an ST-L for the all around view but couldn't stretch to that. Got scuff plates and the cloth cargo mat as the only accessories. Somehow managed to resist the awesome offer of dealer paint/interior protection.

Going to look at a nudge bar and some lights soon, led in either a bar or twin setup. No off-roaming yet but can't wait.

Looking forward to being apart of our little community.

Another Kalgoorlian! Welcome Damien. If you want company or ideas on some tracks, let me know. Happy to help. Also check out the Eastern Goldfields 4wd Club if you want more company. I was the only softie in the club and the members know exactly what the exies are made up off after they seen mine in action. Lol.

Reggie

Thanks Reggie,

I will give a few tracks a go in a few months when I can convince the other half that dirtying the x-trail up is not all bad. Got to organise a new full sized spare and get some recovery gear before heading out. Gives me an excuse to go shopping.. emoticon

The club sounds like a good idea. Hopefully can manage - my new X-Trail has less clearance than yours (gulp).

Re:

The clearance of my exy wasn't much after the suspension sagged. lol. You'll be alright. Usually there are chicken tracks around the obstacles and I always take the chicken tracks. The tracks around Kal are generally easy and flat. A few washouts and dips here and there. Only a few hills and severe ruts that I didn't tackle. Go to Rowles Lagoon or Kanowna Dam as an excuse to get the car dirty. lol

That sounds good. Chicken tracks will definitely suit me, especially as I get used to going off-road (my first AWD car). Looking forward to trying that out now. Cheers!

Might have to go for a run up to the Dam or Rowles Lagoon. Haven't hit either one of them yet. Looking forward to giving Lucky Bay a go next time I head down to Esperance.

Re:

On the way back to town from Kanowna, take the scenic route. lol. Another good area to test the car out is Burra Rock/Cave Hill. We're heading out to Burra Rock and Cave Hill on 24th Jan using the old woodline tracks. Good test for the exy. I haven't done a reccy for the trip so can't tell you exactly how the tracks are at the moment and won't be doing one as I don't have time. Last I did that track, there were some interesting ruts and some washouts. Good fun. I didn't have to engage the 4wd lock much. Let me know if you're interested or have a look on the club's website or facebook page and group.

Re: G'day from Kalgoorlie

Cheers Nanaunt,

Wish I could do that off-road excursion, but my wife is due a couple of days later and I think that I would be risking serious injury if I was to join in. In a couple of months though, I will be very keen to give something a go.

I like the idea of the scenic route back from Kanowna. Got some family arriving next month and might give them a tour.
