Re: T31 bash plates (Full Undercarriage Protection Set)

I have the plates from the forum shop, but I have to say Darcy, your rear plate creation looks more comprehensive. Great job and just reward for the hours you obviously spent on it. I'm sure all who have seen your pics are suitably impressed!

Re: T31 bash plates (Full Undercarriage Protection Set)

Hi guys, shortly I'm going to be making a full set of bash plates for my T31, I'll be making it out of 3mm steel and then powder coating it black. I just want an opinion regarding the holes/slots in the plates, on one hand I've heard that it's better to just have a flat steel plate without holes/slot because it stop things getting caught underneath etc, or is it beneficial to have holes to access certain parts of the engine(even though it's easily removable) or vents for air? I know hot air rises but obviously there needs to be room for air flow etc, just wanting some opinions.
Thanks Brad

Re:

You only need to read back just one page in this thread and you've got your answer mate.

- Drainage is important, ventilation not so much.
- Always remove the bash plate to clean the vehicle whenever you've gone 4wding. (Regardless of the method you choose).
- Have a decent read through a thread before posting in future. A bloke had literally made his own bash plates and posted in this thread not even two/three weeks ago with the same questions etc.

Ok thanks mate, yeh I've read this whole thread over the past few days so I did see what they said I was just seeing if there was any more info people had on the topic. I guess I'll leave it pretty solid then with a hole of 2 for drainage.
Cheers brad

Does it really matter how many times its asked? After all this particular thread is only about bash plates. The thread is probably 44 pages longer than it should be purely because people have asked similar questions over and over. Not everyone has been with the forum since the beginning and at times its just easier to throw up a quick question. You're not obliged to answer, or even read the thread. Perhaps this thread could be chopped down to the essentials on purchase/DIY and install with a list of members to contact via PM for further questions seeing that its upsetting you so much. emoticon

No thread chopping is needed mate. Question asked and answered but it wouldn't hurt if you did a bit homework too, as you may find useful information in the previous responses.

Sorry Darcy, I see no upset and agree with both Ian Ewin and Jalalski.

There are nuances in the different ways people do essentially the same thing and other people learn from those differences and may be capable of making the best adaptation for their own purposes to then add to the general knowledge.

It is incumbent upon the individual to read the background in this Forum.

It is not Yahoo.
