Re: Strez update

Thanks to the forum support and info (took the print out from Pedders website to installers...they asked where did I get it from...)
Now am proud owner of new Pedders coils (RED!!!!).
,
Really know I am not mechanically minded and that is why I use "professionals" but when they say it can't be done (when all the info is out there really steams me up)
Feel I should have a finders fee for the info I give them- this forum rocks

Regards from a taller Strez

Ah congrats, Gail! You should post up the lift photos in this thread. Maybe for all the future mods you'll be doing to your exy, maybe you should think about starting a 'my 4wd' thread on 4x4Earth? (You don't have to pay for it there)

Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Asst

Is there a 'how to' posted anywhere for those of us who are too tight to pay someone else to fit a spring kit?
What tools are required other than the standard ones you'd expect to find in most tool kits?

I've got a mate who wants to replace the shocks and springs in his 80 series cruiser. I thought we might tackle the Exy after getting some experience on his truck.

Also, why is a wheel alignment necessary after fitting a spring kit?
If necessary, could the car still be driven to the local tyre joint after the springs are fitted, or will it be completely out of alignment?

Thx

Re:

I have had the KINGS SPRINGS coil replacement done by Toowoomba Suspensions back in August. I only did coils.

Dennis and his crew are fantastic to deal with.

One word summary EXCELLENT!!

Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Asst

Ok so im very interested in doing this spring lift, most likely king springs, but I just have a question regarding the petrol/diesel springs. So the rears are the same but the front in the diesels have heavy duty where as the petrol hasnt. Now has anyone had the diesel springs fitted to a petrol? (just because fronts are HD? im presuming there is no physical difference....) if so after the settle in period does it mean the front will be less likely to drop much on a petrol(because of the HD springs) but the rear still will the usual amount and itll be different heights? thanks Brad

Re:

I'm going to be lifting my XTrail in addition to putting airbags on the rear, but I'm having issues deciding what springs to use. I see that a lot have used Pedders and others King Springs, but what about Dobinsons? How do they compare to each other?

I would love to hear from those who have installed Dobinsons as to the ride, lift and general experience with them.

As far as we're aware mate, dobinsons don't do a lifted spring for the xtrail. Have you spoken with them at all?

Yep, Dobinsons do springs for the XTrail T31. Spoke to them earlier in the week at the Melbourne branch and they quoted me $200 a pair.

Re:

Just make sure they are not confusing X-trail with Xterra. According to their website, they springs for the Xterra but nothing listed for the X-trail. Don't think the Xterra springs are compatible with X-trail?
