I find that mine will take the hunting carbines quite neatly, but not the target rifles with their longer barrels.
Also the plug-in step attachment to the tow bar fits in there perfectly when not in use.
Otherwise, I find it a good place to shove the frozen goods from the supermarket as that space is supremely well insulated.

I had also thought of making a draw or something similar for the left side, right up until I bought my TRED's and realised they fit perfectly Currently, my left side permanently houses, TRED's, my 2nd fire extinguisher, panel saw and hatchet with little-to-no movement
