Re:

It's impossible to tell, as only a small handfull percentasge of owners are members of this forum to have us list the confirmed cases and since Nissan Australia didn't recognise this as a formal defect, am sure they will be keeping the confirmed cases under wraps.

When the loose screws are above the piston rings and not below them, you may have dodged the bullet emoticon

A compression test will either assuage the anxiety or add to it.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

I have the QR20DE 2.0 litre engine...the one with the plastic black intake manifold.
Is there reason to be concerned?
There are no abnormal signs, but since the engine design is similar I am concerned.
Thank you.

I bought it in early 2006... Not sure about the manufacture date though.
Thank you for your fast reply.

Re:

Open your bonnet and have a look at the manufacturing plate on the firewall which will have the manufacture date. It's a silver plate.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

I found the silver plate.
There are numbers...the chassis number I would guess but no date...
The plate is on the side above the right wheel.
It's the petrol 2 liter automatic and the whole intake assembly from the throttle body to the the engine block is black and looks like plastic...

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

Sorry mate but that tell me nothing. If your xtrail was manufactured in Japan it would have a built date stamped on that silver plate like this

Image

Without knowing the built date, I can't answer your question.
