Newbie heading up the Birdsville Track and Gibb River Road :-)

Hi

We've taken our T31 around the Flinders several times, on the Oodnadatta from Maree to Coober, and between Uluru / Kings Canyon / Alice on the Mereenie Loop Trail.

Would really like to know others' opinions on the practicality of driving the Birdsville and GRR on the same tyres we've used on these other trips. Mainly worried about sidewall damage / punctures. We've had no problems with our Maxxis MA-P1 highway tyres so far (we drive cautiously let them down to around 25psi, and will ytake a second spare on future trips), but are these tracks we're thinking of tackling much, much worse?

Anybody actually driven the Birdsville / GRR without specialist AT or LT tyres? Thoughts appreciated!

All the best

Daryl
