Interior door marker light: Alternate switching possible?

Hi all - I noticed that my new-to-me T30 has a marker light on the inside of the driver door, which is surely an effective safety feature when opening your door into traffic at night.

However, I don't like the fact that it is always "on" whenever the door is ajar. There are times when I like to have the driver door open for extended periods, and I don't care to waste precious "juice" on those occasions.

Can this be switched differently? Or should I just remove the offending bulb?

Thanks for any advice!

Re:

You will find that the interior lights and the courtesy door light turn off by themselves when the door is left opened for a prolonged period of time. I can't remember the duration exactly, but if memory serves me right, it's about 10 minutes of continues door opening.

I remember seeing that when I was working on the car and I thought the battery went flat. Nice feature indeed.

Thanks Jalalski, that makes a lot more sense.
