Re:

Either that or it somehow makes the circuit in the pressure sensors in the DPF to make it think like there is sufficient back pressure in the DPF to warrant a regen? That to me would be more logical than playing with the ECU itself and would be a lot simpler to do.

Re:

Hi Nick and Yasu,

Nissan Australia said that they didn't drop this feature from the imported X-Trails, rather it was Nissan Japan who only made it available to their local Japanese market and did not include it as an option on any exported T31 Diesel for the rest of the world (including Australia).

Nick, can you please check this information with our Russian friends and see if any of them have this button on their T31 Diesels. I think I know the answer to this, but just to be sure.

If this is the case, we may need to find a bit more information from Japan (Yasu) to see if it is possible to have the T31 Diesel retro-fitted with this switch to achieve manual regeneration of the DPF.

Re: DPFs

Hi Jalal,

I'll check that asap and revert. Expected answer coincides with your guess.

Cheers - Nick

Hi Jalal,
As we both expected, St.Peterburg T31 Diesels do not have that button. Looks like only domestic Japanese market X-Trails are fitted with it.
Sorry for delay.

Cheers - Nick

Re: DPFs

Hello!
DPF is clogging often when driving around town. I decided to cancel it both mechanical and software. Now I got rid of the problem of clogging.
Sorry but at school I learned French and German. I do not know English and therefore I use Google Translate. MY daughter also helps me( she learns english at school) but only when she has some free time.
All the best!

Sorry mate, but this modification is an illegal one here in Australia and would guarantee your car to fail registration. We don't support such illegal modifications no matter what the benefits are.

Re: DPFs

I agree with you.
But ... the diesel engine was invented to run on biodiesel.
When the oil corporations will offer me biodiesel on pumps (zero pollution) then there will be no need for either Egr or Dpf. EGR and DPF have been invented to reduce pollution, but global pollution caused by cars is at a rate of only 11%, so something is wrong here.
But because biodiesel can't be found in every country, all the elements that shorten my car's engine's life will be mechanically eliminated and canceled from the car's computer.
EGR and DPF are just memories for me.
All the best!

Re:

The car was imported into your country legally based on existing and global emission standards, assuming of course you didn't buy the car as grey import. This means that the exhaust and emission components included in your car have been put there for a reason and the importer has already taken into account the available fuel/s for this car to maintain its life without impacting on the components.

The same could be said about Catalytic Converters in petrol cars. Why have them if we all know that removing them would not only eliminate the potential risks of the ceramic core breaking-up but it will also give you extra HP.

Such an argument is not a valid one unless you are living in place that doesn't give a damn about rules and regulations when it comes to emission standards and I know very well that Romania follow the EURO Emission Standard just like Australia does.

I also doubt that you can cancel the presence of the DPF from the car's ECU (fully), as to date no-one was able to crack the Nissan ECU program and successfully manipulate it that way.

DPFs aren't new - they've been around for some years and many people get hundreds of thousands of kms out of them if looked after. The Euro diesel cars from makers like Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, VW, Mercedes have had these things for years. I trust the computer in the car to do its job.

Apologies for replying to this late Exywarrior, I have only just come back to the Forum today for a look see. emoticon

Even MB have issues with the DPF so no brand of vehicle is immune to this issue.

Mate in Townsville has Diesel MB and he has had no end of problems with it:

1.Cruise control
2.water pump
3.thermostat housing
4.charge air hose (Turbo)
5.all engine mounts
6.Burnt out rear taillights twice.

And now I'm looking at replacing

7.Scrolling Knob Wheel Command Console
8.ignition switch

the car is only 5yrs old.
