Re:
Great, can't read it but you get a good idea of what you have to do with it.
I don't understand why they didn't come standard with the switch here in Australia.

Re:
I don't see the point.
If the car is run correctly you should never need to force a regen. You may even find that the reason the button isn't fitted in Australian delivered cars is because it doesn't meet the Euro IV emission requirements. And with Euro V standards just around the corner, the M9R is already compliant but there are many other brands of diesel 4WDs that will need to get their act together because the standard will soon be mandatory.
I'd suggest that if you simply give the car a run above 70kmh at least once or twice a week for 15-20 mins or so, and avoid crappy diesel, then there should be no problem.
From my understanding the biggest killer of DPFs is people using the wrong kind of oil in the engine.
DPFs aren't new - they've been around for some years and many people get hundreds of thousands of kms out of them if looked after. The Euro diesel cars from makers like Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, VW, Mercedes have had these things for years. I trust the computer in the car to do its job.

Re: DPFs
Hi Nick,
I have some more info of this post.
(Past day, Jalal was asking me to help you...and I was late to reply it. I'm so sorry.)
I found the instruction Manual of T31 from NISSAN's website.
The instruction of the DPF manual operation regeneration switch is as following.
(I trancelated from Japanese with On-line trancelation, and I also editted them too)
*****
(The manufacturer assumes the case) It drives by a low-speed run, and there is little mileage mainly through the year.
The PM which It sampled burns automatically on the DPF processes.
However, When this processing is not completed by driving condition, PM may deposit in DPF.
When the DPF warning light turns on and the DPF manual operation regeneration switch flashes on and off,
you need to turn the DPF manual operation regeneration switch on.
****
If you already know this kind of info, I have to say you so sorry, Nick.
and I wish it becomes the information that is useful for you...

Re:
Thanks Yasu, that explains exactly what the DPF button does and I am now even more astonished than Tony that Nissan Australia decided to not import this feature with the Australian T31 Diesel and there are now many cases where existing T31 diesel owners are getting the DPF and EGR warning light because they don't do enough mileage or don't travel at high speeds for the regeneration to take place. This button is exactly what they need!

I would hesitate a guess that there is already provision for it on the Aust delivered vehicles ?
That's my guess also since Nissan would only use the Consult to force a bit ON in the ECU to start the forced regen and I am presuming the switch is the hard-wired control of this bit in the ECU.
