Re:

Check the earth wire, as this fault is usually caused by an incorrect and/or loose earth connection like the trailer plug for example.

Re: Rear Wiper problem

Does the intermittent position work or does the wiper work like in the ON position and never pause ?

Re:

Can't remember exactly if you'll be able to see the wiring with just that little flap removed, as you may have to remove the tailgate lining to see it, but give that little flap a go first.

Re: Rear Wiper problem

There is a small microswitch for the wiper motor which stops the wiper when it gets to the "home" position after you have turned the steering switch off. This microswitch is connected to earth and opens when the wiper gets to the home position.
So if the earth near the wiper is bad then the wiper will not keep going and stop as soon as you turned off the steering switch, thinking it had already reached the home position.

Here is the wiring diagram for the earth.

Chances are if the earth is bad then your high-level stop lamp and license plate lamp will not working.

The other thing to check if the earth is good is that the microswitch itself has failed or dirty.

Re: rear wiper prob!

ok now ive taken off the inside panel and undid the wiper motor and checked all conections and they appeared to be good put it back together and its still doing it but could not find an earth wire ! my high level tail lights are working and so is my number plate lights ! i turn on the wiper with ignition on and it doesnt stop but if i turn ignition off it does stop and doesnt continue working when i turn ignition back on ! only when i turn wiper back on it doesnt stop ! so when wiper wont stop i turn off ignition and it resets !
this is the best i can explain it kev ! hope i havent confused you too much ? wally ! where is this microswitch ?

Re: Rear Wiper problem

OK Wally, I get that it continues to run if you turn off the wiper switch and stops when you turn the ignition off, but WHERE does it stop ?
Does it stop immediately you turn off the ignition, like in the middle of the window anywhere, or does it stop when it gets back to the down position at the bottom of the window ?

The earth wire is in the left-hand side panel but if your upper stop lamp and license plate lamp are working then the earth is OK.

The microswitch is part of the motor itself as far as I know.

Re: Rear Wiper problem

Here is the wiper motor circuit.
Image
As you can see the earth for the intermittent switch is separate from the motor earth but common to the license plate lamp and high-mount stop lamp. Therefore I would suggest checking the continuity of the wire from the 2-pin plug connection at the motor to the the earth point as shown at the top of the diagram.
