Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi Kurt
Connect the black wire to a body frame to ground the unit. You are using the antenna ground return to provide the negative to the unit which may not be of sufficient size to provide power for long periods and MAY burnout the wire.

Les

PS When your unit is in Navy mode, do you great the radio in the background which cuts to Navy voice when a direction is given and the returns to radio.?
Mine did originally until I downloaded an update to the GPS software.

Re:

OK Thanks. Next weekend when i install the rear view camera and take out the unit again i will surely ground the black wire! Any good close locations to which i can connect the ground wire? Unforunately the cable not very long and don't have much flexibility. I might have to extend it.

With regards to navi mode, yes whenever there is a direction given the radio audio is cut out from the front speakers only. Navi audio plays only on front speakers. Rear speakers continuously play radio (i.e. no cut out on rear speakers). My head unit also has an option called Navi Mix in settings. Turning this on will not cut out the radio and play both simultaneously (on all speakers). I prefer with the mix turned off however.

One issue i noticed is that the light of the radio (button background light) is always on, irrespective of whether the lights of the car are on / off. I tried disabling the auto lighting of the Nissan but still light remains on. Anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks

Hey All, received the Koason unit after all, although i'd say response from seller is still poor.

Product is great though! Better quality than expected. Installed it yesterday (easy to install) and no issues. Weirdly my phone steering wheel button works too, without any custom mods.

Had some issues with built in mic which doesn't seem to work (unless there's some hidden setting to enable it which i couldn't find). Connected external mic and it was OK. Mounted it on the steering cover right under the dials.

Next weekend i plan to install rear view camera.

There seems to be an earth/ground black wire with like a fork end. Couldn't figure out where this should be attached. The unit works without having it grounded / connected to anything and left it at that. Not sure if it's correct though.

gday, where did you order the head unit from? was it ebay or a website, also, did it come with an external mike for the phone? cheers

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

I not long ago installed an Eonon G2104 double din all in one unit with reverse cam into my T30, also installed the same unit into the BiL T30 last week. These Eonon G2104's are rippers for the price, going for $221 AUD delivered to your door in 3 days is a tremendous deal, using lastest ARM processors so they are snappy units that boot quickly (for reverse cam) and perform well. I have installed many China units over the years, this one in the best performer thus far. T30 Xtrail has to be the easiest car to install ICE, grab an Aerpro APP0120 adapter for the factory harness for $15, job done in 30 minutes.

EONON discounts until end July 2014

Since reading this thread after deciding to upgrade the functional but basic radio CD fitted to my Xy then giving up (my vehicle was leased and I was advised not to tamper with it, its now mine) . When I bought the vehicle I was willing to buy a unit they had fitted to the demo but they were testing it. Eclipse whey could fit at car radio dealer was $2200 or so but they could not advise about map updates (cost or availability) so I left it.
(the brisbane tunnels were being dug at the time and almost complete)

EONON was one of the ones I researched after seeing it listed here. On their site they are giving a big discount until end of July 2014. So I am looking a C1310B which is a GE01B (DAB DVD bluetooth NAV + A0119 reversing camera) for under $350 shipped with maps.
They have them on eBay and their site. Think Ill be ordering that within a day or 2

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Have been spending some time on this amazing thread. The last few posts mention Eonon and I was wondering how they have been reviewed. I have a 2009 T31 and want to replace the standard audio unit. Wasn't thinking of GPS but the Eonon units look like they are already equipped. I am assuming that the ordering process and model numbers on the Eonon site are car specific GM5168 and will virtually plug and play? Could it be that easy???

My other option is to go to the local car audio place and have them install an Alpine or Pioneer with reversing camera for just under $1,000.

Any advice would be welcome.
