Re:
Time for me to go looking for a heavy duty clutch. Been told that it has been causing the sounds like rubber rubbing sound when in reverse gear with a bit of gas and speed but no vibrations or clicking sound that I can hear. Done 41000km, with a couple of clutch burning in sand. Still got some kms left in it so will wait a little longer before replacing it.

Re:
Mine only lasted till 43000kms, the burning smell got the better of me.
It all still worked fine bar the smell.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
No and never will be. Excedy won't do a SMF replacement either. I asked them directly. There is a SMF replacement out there made by Australian Clutch Services (part: KN25617). Have yet to get a price on this.
The problem with these clutches isn't the clutch. It's the stupid DMF. Weak as piss.
The D40 Navaras have them too and anyone who uses it off-road will be able to tell you they fail in those too.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
Got a quote from ACS for the SMF conversion kit - $1,891.89. Not a bad price at all.

Re:
Do you have any slight rattling noise on idle Grant?
The SMF conversion on the T30 sometimes get a little rattle, some do, some don't.

Re:
Not sure if this is a clutch issue... but essentially the car lacks power from stand still, and I've got to rev it a bit more than usual to get it going (especially annoying when towing). My wife has noticed it as well.
On top of that, the gear seems to 'jump' into the next gear, and its not smooth as it used to be... mainly happening between 1/2 2/3 and sometimes 3/4 gear changes. It feels like a jolt, as if the DMF is popping the clutch on and off. I've noticed some burning smell, just by shifting up and down at high speeds (e.g. going between 4/5/6th gears along Putty Rd).
Once the car gets going, its fine, but it has stalled on me a few times as I couldn't transfer the power into 1st gear.
What do you guys think? Not sure if its just sloppy driving, but my wife is now commenting on it (she stalled twice today).
If its a clutch... what are my options. I'm not too keen on an SMF conversion due to this being mainly an urban commuter and also issues with drive train stress that has been reported from other vehicles switching to a SMF.

Re:
Hey Michael, it could possibly only be the CCS (bearing) failing, have you checked the fluid in the clutch reservoir lately?
The CCS is a hydraulic bearing and may only need the system bled going on your description.
The burning smell is the clutch but only caused by the bearing not throwing enough.
Todd has put a link up a few pages back with a mob that do a SMF for a T31, the issues you talk about only relate to the T30, cause then, there was no known SMF for the T31.
