Re:
Will try and give it ago on my iPhone, but I need to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 first and I hate doing that as the last time I upgraded my iOS I lost everything from iPhone 4 including all of my contacts!

Re:
I need to research this a bit and talk to my eldest about it, as he's the house guru when it comes to the iPhone technology. Previously he recommended against it and said that it was a security risk to jailbreak the iPhone (unlike the iPod), so the new jailbreak maybe safer.

Re: Another question about adding contacts to Bluetooth (2011 ST)
I figured that there probably won't be many more iOS upgrades (especially for my iphone 3gs), so it was worth it for me. The head unit links the phonebook to the bluetooth mac address, and so if you're concerned about having a jailbroken phone, you can install airblue, do all the transfers, and then simply restore your backup again and have an un-jailbroken phone again, but with the contacts still in the car.

Re: Another question about adding contacts to Bluetooth (2011 ST)
Its been a while since I transferred the contacts so my memory is a bit faded.....anyways, I remember that to transfer contacts you need to use both bluetooth stacks. I can try it on mine again when I've got a spare moment:
My suggestion is delete all the bluetooth pairings you've got for all phones....besides, trying to use multiple phones won't work, as the X-trail creates a new phonebook for each bluetooth MAC address used (the identifier of the bluetooth hardware on the phone - i.e. each individual phone)
With your jailbroken phone, pair it with the car using the apple bluetooth stack (on ios). Then, on the car select add a contact to the phonebook, whilst browsing your contacts list on you iphone. Select your contact on your phone, choose share contact, and then choose share contact using bluetooth (as a result of airblue). I'm pretty sure the phone then complains that two bluetooth stacks cannot be running at the same time, and therefore shuts down the apple bluetooth stack. The contact is successfully transferred, and it asks to record a name twice to the contact. Also, make sure your contacts just have one number (no emails or home phones associted with them). I think it freaks out if you try to send contacts with multiple numbers.

Re: Another question about adding contacts to Bluetooth (2011 ST)
Matt, thanks for your reply, what you say about the 2 stacks is correct, I came across this after I first tried the jail broken phone. Airblue indeed prompted me to close the iPhone Bluetooth connection which I did..... That's when, on sending the contact, it just started the loop of send, name the contact, send, name the contact.....
I think I'm going to have to send an email to Nissan Australia as I have been over to Nissan in Robina, where we got the car, and the mech there was as stumped as I. And like I said, I don't know what make the head unit is, so can't even see which mobile phones are compatible!
There seems to be many issues with these Bluetooth head units so lets hope Nissan & suppliers can sort it out between themselves.
Thanks again for your input....
