Re: Towbar

Thanks for the reply Tony. I could only find one X-Trail towbar on ebay when I looked this morning. While it is cheap (currently 0.99c), it's pick-up only and in NSW. So if anyone down there is looking, maybe now is your chance. It's a Hayman Reese tow bar too.

If you see the Brisbane tow bar again, do you think you could PM me the link, or your exact search words that brought it up?

The only other thing I saw was a genuine Nissan tow bar hitch in Victoria. Considering theft of these seems to be a common theme on the forum, it may be worth checking out the following link if your's has been stolen recently!

John
All I typed in is "X Trail" into the search engine.
That bar might have sold but they come up all the time so keep an eye out.

Re: Towbar

John,

Try calling the wreckers in your area, you can usually score the genuine Nissan towbar for as little as $100.00 from them if they have in stock.

Re: Towbar

Hi John,

We have already found that if you are planning to do a lot of heavy towing then it is better to get a Hayman Reece towbar rather than the Nissan one because of the better fitting design and how it transmits the load to the Xtrail subframe.

Re: Towbar

I think you meant a transmission cooler, it all depends how often and how heavy you towing will be.

In any case, there is an existing transmission cooler thread HERE which you can refer to for suggestions and to ask follow-up questions.

Re: Towbar

Hi,

I've been calling about Sydney looking for a shop to sell and fit a Hayman Reese towbar on my T30 series II

So far I've been quoted:
-Shop1Auto: $550
-TJM: $536
-Artarmon Reseller: $695

I won't be going to Artarmon as it's way over priced and too far out of my way.

Has anyone used any of these places and are they any good?
Any other recomendations of good fitters/sellers around Sydney, inner west area?

Thanks.

Re: towbar

Hi,
just adding to this thread , I was quoted $550 to supply and fit a heavy duty towbar (made in Brissy) today, its probably the same bar that can be had on e-bay for $345 + shipping ,then you can also get the wiring for another $45 from the same seller. But being in Sydney its probably easier for me to have this one fitted without the hassles of doing it myself. And back in the late 90,s when i used to make towbars ,when a new model car came out ,we would buy a haymann reece one to copy from with subtle changes to make it different ;-)

Re: Towbar

had some more quotes ,Hayman Reece one $740 ,but most were at the $550 mark except for 1 quote from Carasel at Moorebank which was $450 for a heavy duty towbar, so i will be ringing them back to make sure its a 2000kg rated bar as thats what I'm after emoticon

Keep an eye on ebay, there are always genuine towbars for sale for as little as $150.
